What will happen to the value of this model in each of these possible outcomes:
1. It gets discontinued 2. It gets the new movement 3. The rumour is false and nothing changes Thanks |

GMT Master2 BLNR now discontinued.
Quote:
1. It gets discontinued Grey dealers will push the asking prices higher to find the target of what the market or buyers are willing to pay. The FOMO crowd currently in line to get the BLNR right now, will create a little bit of a frenzy. Speculators will put them in a safe hoping its a retirement/investment vehicle. 2. It gets the new movement Owners of the first model will hold because a longer power reserve is less likely to make someone flip. The collectors will also say the first iteration is “the one” and hold. Those still waiting will be happy to get the latest and greatest with a longer power reserve. 3. The rumour is false and nothing changes The world will continue doing world things and TRF marches on. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

GMT Master2 BLNR now discontinued.
BLNR with new movement sounds most logical but Rolex isn’t always logical or accommodating with the desires of the Rolex WIS community (ie newest and best all SS available to all)
Other possible lineup could be: BLNR discontinued and gone LN with new movement and red 24 hr hand Push the TT CHNR two tone because higher margins Pepsi same production levels to keep people “wanting” and “desiring” Keep all gold CHNR New Coke but in WG or platinum Now Rolex has one of each GMT with all new movement) LN simple black GMT (new because of red hour hand) TT CHNR All gold CHNR Pepsi bi color bezel SS Coke in white PM (WG or platinum) No BLNR with new movement because there nothing to differentiate old BLNR vs new BLNR except crown on dial. Obviously all conjecture all is possible For all we know the BLNR is NOT discontinued and everything is still the same :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Out of interest I have contacted a few AD’s in the UK about this current rumour.
Two AD’s confirmed they have heard the same rumour from ‘reliable’ sources. However, they wouldn’t confirm who their sources were. Who knows what the future holds... |

I foresee lots of old "batmans & Hulks" for sale after Rolex upgrades the movement and case. Now that the market is flooded with the old Batman, they will drop in value like a bag of bricks. I see them going for $6k.
The 116710LN makes sense to discontinue for a Coke or a red 24hr hard LN with red GMT font.

I thought I was crazy when I bought this watch in early 2014 at asking price. Back then it was rumored a 3 month wait list. The day I decided I wanted one I called around and found one a mall jeweler an hour away that supposedly just had it arrive that day. I drove out and bought it on the spot. It is easily my most worn watch over the past 4 1/2 years. Well travelled. On day one it was +1.5 spd, settled in at ~.6spd, but now in the past few years has crept up closer to +5 spd. I'm thinking of spending it to the spa. The bracelet is a complete scratch-fest... thinking I may have that polished. Not sure about the watch.
I'm all for it being obsoleted. |

I don’t agree. The market wasn’t flooded with the 116660 when Rolex released the 126660 this year. The longer power reserve is nice but how many dollars would one spend or lose, to sell/flip/unload theirs simply for another with a new movement? At least in the example of the JC SD, the bracelet, lugs, and design features were updated. The market won’t be flooded, WIS make up a very small percent of the market and most won’t even know a change has been made OR want to try and sell for a power reserve imo. AD said it is simply getting the updated movement and this isn’t a big deal just minor changes like Rolex has been doing for decades. That being said I am sure people will try to say the original BLNR is ‘rare’ and ‘scarce’ and try to sell them for much more when the new one has an improved movement.

Simply put, on a logistical production level, it makes no sense to have 2 different caliber for watches only different in dial and bezel. Rolex likely kept the BLNR and WG BLRO going this year to deplete inventory of pre-manufactured movement parts to a level they deem ok for sparing. This being a transitional period, and after that said period, all GMT will have the same 3285 movement.
Now on what will exactly happen to BLNR, only Rolex knows, but in it's actual model ref and used movement, I feel we are at a turning point for the GMT lineup and broader use of 3285 is to happen. |

In fairness, it’s coming from a very credible source

Now, if the new version also came in the updated BLRO case with a stock jubilee options, that might get a few more to flip for the new one. It would certainly make me think about it. But even that's not nearly enough to meaningfully devalue the older model. You'll never see that happen until Rolex starts manufacturing enough to meet casual demand. |

It does make sense if the Blro has replaced it. I'm glad I just got mine and it's not going anywhere.

Let’s say it is discontinued ... the BLNR:
- Is the first bi-color ceramic bezel model produced by Rolex - would have had a production window of only 5 years My guess is that the price would go bonkers... If it were to eclipse say the current BLRO prices, I don’t know if I’d feel comfortable wearing it as a daily driver, as silly as that may seem. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I certainly wouldn't be disappointed if the BLNR was discontinued.
In fact, at this point I really don't care what Rolex does, as long as they stay in business. Maybe Rolex feels that one steel, bi-color bezel at a time is plenty, but that doesn't really make a lot of sense. I expect to see the color combination return in a new reference, but again, if the BLNR is truly done, that's fine and dandy with me. Mine will stay in rotation, regardless, and I'll keep it until the day I die.
