Thoughts on a rose gold bracelet versus a leather strap?

Hi folks,

Please share your take on the aesthetics, the style, the wearability, and everything that goes into a gold bracelet on a dress watch versus a strap. It's much appreciated, thanks!

I'm looking at something like this:

Versus

Something like this:

Much nicer on a strap in my opinion. The strap presents the watch as the center piece, while the bracelet is a bit overdone.

It's true, when I have a bracelet, a big part of the allure becomes the bracelet itself!

Gold bracelet--doesn't matter the brand=scratches which drive me crazy.

However, if you can can deal with that, bracelet always has a nice pop to it vs strap.

I see why you go RM with space age, scratch-proof materials!

On strap, a wonderfully executed timepiece.

On bracelet, jewelry.

For a 5146, I'd say strap, but for a Nautilus, I'd say bracelet.

That bracelet is utterly revolting in my humble Op. I have a 5146G on a strap, a really beautiful watch (slate dial). Would be ruined by that bracelet.

Living in a tropical climate makes leather straps unwearable for me. That bracelet looks much better in person than in photographs too.

Straps on a dress watch with traditional hook lugs, bracelet on a sports.

I'm torn by this question. I just can't find many strap watches that fit me well (centered watch head etc). I love them - buy them - grind over the fit - then flip them. Now for your choice here, I'm not a fan of that particular bracelet. Best option for me is my dd40 - probably as dress as I'll ever need. Could that work for you?

I think the bracelet adds to the overall dressiness of the watch for a special occasion, although I prefer the leather straps for regular wear

I just meant that in general I prefer straps to bracelets. I've never really been able to get a perfect fit with any bracelet, much less a year round happy medium given wrist swelling in the warmer months. I even tend to wear sports watches on leather, rubber, or natos, even if they are designed primarily to wear with a bracelet. So in this case, given its a dress watch that in my opinion is more suited toward a leather strap, I'd really have a hard time opting for the bracelet (even though the design itself seems nice)

a) i am too conservative and probably wouldn't wear a coloured PM bracelet no matter what watch;
b) dress watches traditionally have strap and sports watches bracelet. Whats the point of a sports watch (on strap) if you cant dive in the pool?

I Like the Gold bracelet, looks rich & classy... Good to mix it up on a leather band too.

Hi, totally impossible to justify my opinion, I just think that particular bracelet is a little OTT, and it distracts the eye away from the watch itself.

I think the 5146 is one of the best-looking PPs currently being made, and it looks sensational on a strap without being too flashy and attracting unwanted attention. The 5146 doesn't suffer from the enormo-font PATEK PHILIPPE plastered across the dial, which seems to be a recent and unfortunate PP design trope. The bracelet would kill that subtlety, IMO.

But these are just opinions, and others can and do disagree.

Get both if this is your grail. Buy the one with a bracelet and order the leather strap from Patek or somewhere else of your choosing.
