Cognac requires a slight flare near the top as yours shows. The ones for whiskies don’t flare.

So #2 IMHO.

But the best is a clean Dixie cup. Drams to the left, Wines on the right.

OP.
Just seen 6xBaccarat tumblers for sale on eBay.
Very similar to No2.
Your side of the pond....Florida.

No connection to me.

Personally, I'd recommend Waterford crystal, 'Alana' tumblers are beautiful.

It seems like the votes for the Harmonie (#2) have it. This ends up being nice since the pair of Harmonie glasses is 150 dollars cheaper

I prefer the look of the Harcourt (#1) personally, but was having a hard time justifying the additional cost from the same manufacturer. A decade ago I was given a 30 dollar set of glasses from Costco that are essentially Harmonie knock-offs, which is probably the main reason I like the Harcourt (a different look). I probably just under appreciate how cool my daily beverage glasses look. I'm happy to be in a position where I can afford either of these classics as a celebration of a goal.

I'm drawn to Baccarat for the handcrafted nature of their products and the weight when you hold them, so the exact design between these two classic patterns is a little less important to me. I'll post pics when they come in about a month.

Thanks for all the help forum!

#1 has been produced by Baccarat since 1841 and is probably the longest one design of a glass has been made by any company worldwide. They also charge 50% more for that design than most of their others.

In this case I just want a pair of nice tumbers from Baccarat out of appreciation of the brand.

I actually have several Waterford products and do like their quality. I don't think they sell all that well in the states. Sometimes they will end up places like TJ Maxx or Costco. And then they don't sell so they go on clearance. Can pick up brand new pieces in the original box for 80% off sometimes. I usually buy a cartload and send them for Christmas gifts. Great crystal for a great price

Picture below of some vases at Costco. I picked up a bunch and gifted them when they hit 29.97. Retail is 150.

I was looking at these for G&T, the Harcourt is fabulous, I like the large size better, it looks like you have gone for the slightly smaller. I saw both in Harrods last year, the large is a beast of a glass but was uncomfortable in my hand, slightly too big, it weighs a ton, well, slightly less at 20 oz.

In my opinion I would go for number 1, it was their first and is most traditional.

I actually went to Lalique and bought a pair of 100 point large size tumblers, I put the order in about 3 hours ago.

I like the style on #2, the Harmonie set the best.

Just for info, my wife uses the Baccarat Mille Nuits Highball for drinking water, which is similar to number 2 but has a flared lip, it is very slippy and smooth, the ribbing design is on the inside of the glass, the outside where one holds it is smooth.

I'm actually leaning back towards number 1 (Harcourt). Saw a picture of the base compared the Harmonie (2) and thought the craftsmanship required to hand make that heptagon base is on another level. I can kind of see where the extra cost comes in (versus just charging more for an original design).

I honestly wish I could get into Lalique, but they are just too busy for me. Exquisite craftsmanship, but I prefer very simple patterns.

If the large Harcourt would fit my hand, I would have gone for it in a heartbeat, the size down wouldn't have really worked for me on G&T. I agree, Lalique is fussy, however, I find the 100 point series very understated and (imho) very elegant, I have a couple of the wine glasses in the 100 point style also. I do have some wine glasses from Baccarat which are very heavy.

This forum is full of bad ideas that spend my money. Now I'll have to get a set of #1 from Baccarat to go with my evening Lagavulin. Elegance defined.

My friend just gifted me a couple of Norlan glasses. If you like your whiskey neat, it's a great way to go.

I picked up a glencairn glass for me and my bro this holiday for stocking stuffers.
That's been what I've been using for my sips.

I'd go with #2 for entertaining. Great look!

#1 reminds me of standard fare restaurant/cafeteria glass.
