My dad's EXII 1655. Wore it for almost 40 years. Watched him build multiple houses wearing this watch, never took it off! It's a legend in my family.

Below that is my grandfather's (dad's dad) Datejust Thunderbird (the SS Gray Dial). It's amazing to have them in the hand and on the wrist. Super cool feeling.

Ooops, Hosting issues, pics to follow.

What is considered vintage? After so many years, or no longer manufactured?

If I were to guess, I'd say any timepiece that is at least 20-25 years old.

It depends who you ask. I doubt anyone would view a glossy dial, WG surround, sapphire crystal 16610 Sub as "vintage" despite being released well over twenty years ago.

Anything with a matte dial, acrylic crystal, or both is a safe bet. Even so, something like an OQ is vintage for sure.

That 5512 is just perfection. I wouldn't need anything else.

A bit curious of their appraisal. How much do they claim it's worth?

Phillip Ridley did the work. We decided to do it "right" and we left nothing undone, and the service, band, crystal and parts were not cheap...but worth it. Everything is period correct and the band is nearly perfection too. The value is more for my insurer, not necessarily what I could get.

bulter9999 - Philip did similarly good work on my 1959 5512. Excellent character, that man.

I think you can get a lot more than you think. Well done anyways

No idea if I misunderstand the topic but here's my small contribution.

I would love to upgrade the 5508 to a either a chapter ring 5512 or a perfect late gilt 5513. It's just so hard to find good examples for sale..

I bought it from Bulang and Sons. They have some great straps to choose from.
