15202 Availability

I've been thinking about selling my 15400 to help fund a 15202, but I'm unsure of availability. I'm only interested in new, so how hard are they really to find? I'm assuming I'd be stuck paying retail, but who should I call to find one? Am I going to be on a long wait list?

by new do you mean AD only or BNIB from a grey dealer?

From a grey dealer, not very hard. From an AD you need to go to a boutique I'm pretty sure unless the US still makes them available to AD's

By new I just mean unworn, so BNIB from grey is fine. However, I haven't had much luck checking the major players (Takuya, David, JazTime). I've found RG, but not steel.

The 15202, in my experience, is a watch that few ever sell once they purchase. It's hard enough to buy one, but when you finally do and own it, you realize just what a perfect watch it truly is. Add that to the limited production numbers, and you'll have very few on the secondary market.

you may have to wait a bit from those dealers but they can probably source one quicker than you could going to AP yourself.

Who knows, call AP and tell them you want a custom rotor done with your initials (they do that on the 15202 and RO PC for sure) maybe they will just let you "order one"directly. Worth a try, as if i was getting a 15202 i would want it customized anyway so it could be a way to avoid issues with sourcing?

I really want someone to try it so i know for future reference

New you can find them in the AP boutiques, I've found that they usually have one in the back, especially in NY.

Used, takes time but they become available from time to time.

Call the NYC Boutique and the FL one as well. I bet they can get one pretty quick...plus you will get the 5 year warranty.

Some large AP AD's do get them on occasion as well FYI.

Large AP ADs can get them but the list is typically a few years out. Factor in that AP could stop delivering to them altogether and your best off either Grey or boutique.

What's retail? 22?

As noted above the boutique will make one appear if you put your credit card down. They may say it's not there but will call you in a week typically

So is it safe to say that you won't get a discount from the boutique on the 15202?

AP boutiques are your best bet. At least here, many dealers seem to have waitlists and notify their VIP clients when one comes in anyways.

As for discounts, they are unlikely but not impossible. The HK boutique suggested they would be willing to give a few % off back in March (when sales were likely really slow in HK), but it was full sticker for me last week when I went back (no regrets however!).

Given the BNIB prices from grey dealers, I'd be ok with MRSP if maybe I could get the tax taken off. It would still be more expensive than buying from a grey dealer, but the extra warranty seems likes its worth it.

I got mine last April though no discount.

I have friends who got theirs but decided to sell due to the winding and date changing issue.

I was forewarned but I am ok on that.

This is one of my concerns. Lack of seconds hand and no quick-set date. I don't know if it's worth ditching two watches to pick up one with those two missing features.

the 15202 is a pain to wind. If I'm not within 5 days I don't wear the watch. I set the date 15 times when I first got it.. very nerve wracking!

I already spoke to jaztime. He doesn't have one and said he doesn't know if he can find one to source. As far as I know, world of luxury doesn't offer factory warranties.

I'm shocked Chrono24 stock is not accurate

Go to the Boutique. Leave them a check and you'll have it in no time

I could get it in 2 places in Paris the same day, boutique and AD, they told me they didn't take lists, first come first serve, not sure about others

Was at the AP boutique in NYC on Saturday. They had none in stock for steel for me to try on but told me I could put a deposit down and have one with a short wait. I didn't ask the sales lady to define a short wait but I can't imagine it being as a long as a wait for a Nautilus.

I went to the AP AD in Houston today and they told me the steel version isn't a boutique only piece and could get me one.

as previous members have commented, the AP boutique will have one or can get it fairly easily. when i got mine, i had gone to the NYC boutique a couple times to view it in person, comparing it to the 15400 (which is what i thought i initially wanted).
and during those visits, it was intimated to me that they could be had fairly 'easily'. yes there is a waiting list, but the protocols on that are best described as 'loose'.

like one of the statements made already, go there and let them know ur ready to purchase right then and there...they'll make it happen fairly expediently.

also, since ur in CT, have them ship it to you...you'll save on the taxes (since, i believe, CT does not have an AP boutique location).

good luck!

I used a watch winder for this watch to ensure I won't have any winding and date changing issue at least if the month ends on the 31st. If it ends on the 30th, I do one time winding.

To add, it is indeed tough to do date change because of the size and shape of the crown. I didn't have such issue on my vintage Omega watches with no quick set date mechanism.

Have you tried setting the date this way?

Beautiful watch and it fit me like a glove (they didn't have steel one but I was able to try on a RG model in NYC). Was concerned about the lack of second hand and quick-set date, but after trying it on it's next up after my 15407st comes in.

Let me ask this. Is it worth selling my Milgauss Z-Blue, JLC MUT Moon Black Dial, and 15400 to get the 15202?

i would. However the 15400 is the only one of the 3 i really like and replacing it with a 15202 would be a good swap. Not sure on the resale values but that does seem like a lot to give up though.
