Congrats! As OCD as I am, the 5712 dial always appealed to me and I'm quite happy to wear it as my daily driver!

Congrats! The 5711 blue is my grail, but the 5712 is really nice. I've really warmed up to it.

i haven't had it long enough to fairly/objectively compare with them.
but my initial gut reaction is that they are truly NOT comparable watches...very unique in their own way.

had i gotten the 5711, i think would have scrutinized over a comparison. and for that reason, i'm very glad that i was able to get this first (instead of a 5711, which i hope to have one day down the line...but i want the 5726 next!).

in terms of build quality, both look and feel very special. even though i believe they are sporty enough to wear on a daily basis, i do feel a sense of "occasion" when having either on. in fact, that characterization of "occasion" is something i've heard by many watch owners (of either of these models, or others), and it wasn't quite until i acquired these that i finally got what it meant. a very personal sentiment, one must admit...but still, i feel "special" with either of them on.

being an owner of either of these, one is oftentimes compelled to over-analyze every beautiful detail. and i guess that's we all appreciate the nerd factor of doing such.
and so i'll do it here as well...

my thought is beyond the historical value of these models (probably more 5711 than 5712 for PP) and what they mean for each of their respective brands, i think the jumbo's dial is more about the manual artistry of the tapisserie dial. wearing it and seeing it in person you cannot escape the awe of that dial...and when you learn what it takes to make what at first glance may seem like a simple thing, you're just blown away by what you're so lucky enough to have.

on the 5712, it's not so much about the manual artistry, but the layout and chameleon nature of the blue dial. what on paper may seem like a overly-complicated and physically crowded dial, it just works. and because they figured that out, you keep gazing at the dial and mesmerized by the fact that you can't seem to reconcile the incorrect theory on paper vs what you're seeing in front of you on your wrist.

perhaps a bit of a hyperbolic WIS insight...but we're all nerds for this stuff, right?!
