Anybody Else ever Get a Strong Desire for a Minute Repeater?

I have been looking for a dress watch, mainly Patek,
but I stumbled across some IWC minute repeaters for surprisingly low prices.
The sound seems really really good for around $50-$85K.
Something like below.
Of course I am guessing it would be trouble on the secondary market,
but man that is a really nice looking watch with a complication that is usually MUCH more expensive. And IWC is no slouch by any means.
I might come back to my senses and get a Patek dress watch, but this really has me thinking.
Is this platinum one still being made?
I only see RG on the company website.
IWC has some really good prices and amazing looking watches for high end complications they offer.

Wow Karl! that is one seriously beautiful watch,
but the prices I see on Chrono24 are at best $750K
I can't say I blame you though
That look and sound is exquisite..
Video below captures a glimpse of the beauty in aesthetics and the symphonious sound,

That's my dream complication, basically the only comp which makes me tick. I thought about some IWC ones, but that's the kind of watch you are gonna be in a world of pain should you decide or need to sell it, even gotten for a good price second hand.
I would love one some day, but feel I won't be rich enough to ever take the plunge, took a big plunge on getting a Voutilainen as it would be also hard to sell, would probably take a bath, except maybe in 20 years if his prices have tripled since then, so one financially risky watch is enough for me, but if you can afford it why not, for me it's the coolest complicated watch, don't forget also that at service you will pay a load of cash as it is really hard to service and get the right sound when they put the movement back up.
Of course if I won the lottery it's one of the 3-4 watches I would immediately buy, but would buy a PP or an AP ROO grande complication...
If PP would probably go for the new 5316p, perfect size, love all about it...

5178, my favorite Patek of all time. Breguet numerals, cathedral gongs, 6 o clock seconds........simply exudes class. Essentially that IWC you posted, but done Patek style

I'd rather have a Patek with a useful complication like a QP.

Maybe I should ask...
Has anyone found a Nice Minute Repeater UNDER $100K?
Or at least under $200K so it is something I could ACTUALLY get one day...lol
Has to be a respectable brand. IWC and JLC for example I feel are respectable.
They are not patek, but all those Pateks are $500K+

Maybe this is one where you either get the best or Nothing...

If you can get a REALLY good price, it might be worth the investment (and pleasure).

I think you can find second hand from both brands at those prices, but like you for me if to get one it's the best or nothing, would probably get a ROO grande complication, and the 5316p, one dressy one sporty, 1,5 million for both, but if you won 100mil at the lottery what's 1,5?

That is a great pair for a Powerball Lotto winner
Today the jackpot is $187 Million.
I am buying a ticket...

The only minute repeater I can afford is the Breitling Aerospace :)

(which I did with a Aerospace EVO)

Then it's the FPJ, nothing else is as advanced technically. Plus it's beautiful.

Is there not?
I think Bvlgari would have to disagree on that point, twofold.

Very nice, found this video,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dvkRUfqPThU

but sound does not sound quite as good as PP and FPJ based on videos I have listened to but still excellent for a better price.
But having a tourbillon and MR <7mm is incredible!!

I had the pleasure of touching and listening to a number of PP Minute Repeaters on a factory visit...would love a 5208but I'm fairly certain will forever be out of my price range☹️

One thing did cross my mind...if I got one I would want to use as no other watch could better it. So if I did ever get one (in my dreams) and used it I assume that I would struggle to insure it so how rich do you think you would need to be to not worry if you couldn't insure it?

Also I wonder if these masterpieces are just bought by collectors and put in their safes as investments?

Would I be correct in thinking that using one would devalue it?

You can’t base sonic performance on videos from different uploaders, of unknown quality, recorded with different equipment, and in differing acoustic spaces.

The second video was put up as a counterpoint to FPJ’s claim that MRs are all fragile – being ex-Patek, maybe he was talking only about the ones he fixed whilst working there, and making a generalisation.
As the last words of the video said, Bvlgari made it such that it was a daily wearer – that said, the lack of case volume, even though it is Titanium, will probably have an effect on the amount of sound generated when directly compared.

The first video was to highlight that for all the kudos Patek, FPJ, and some others get, none have managed or bothered to make a 4-hammer Westminster chime MR like Gerald Genta did, which offers a greater range of tones than the twin hammer designs can produce.
That having been said, I would still dearly love to have the Credor MR…

I heard Patek says that has the best sound because of less moving parts and better resonance.
That is such a simplistic beauty
Looks like they are selling over $100K retail though...
One of those application pieces it pays to have a PP resume.

I'm with you. I'd get one if it was reasonable. It's the kind of almost useful complication that only a WIS would appreciate.
I'd wear it to bed to check the time if I wake up in the middle of the night.
