So let me get this right- Some complete stranger who is too cheap to just rent a car, gets the keys to my car while I'm away, and this will save me the princely sum of $13 per day?

Where do I sign?

The idea is you also share in the profit from the rental fee.

Horrible idea imho. I'd never let some random guy rent my car lol

TravelCar ?

I feel like my generation (I'm currently 21) is very "open" when it comes to letting their personal stuff be open to strangers. I.E Airbnb and turo car rental and this new car "rental" service.

Probably because at 21 it's unlikely your generation actually owns the items in question. Renting your parents house is easy, renting a house you've worked for and put your heart and soul into isn't so easy.

I'm 31, so technically a millennial and this wouldn't fly with me either.
Free parking, but it's not parked...

Not to mention a car that other people would want to drive and that you would be willing to let them drive for days on end.

Worst idea ever.

I'm not going to let some random jackass drive my car while I am away just to save on parking. If I really wanted to save on parking, I will just take Uber to the airport.

Ditto. I always calculate the relative cost of Uber v. parking before I decide which route to take.

The article didn't mention anything about insurance liabilities in regards to maximum coverage. Who's financially responsible (after a certain point) if the renter causes extensive property damage and/or personal injury, the registered owner of the vehicle or the rental agency?

The only businesses who will benefit/prosper from this questionable concept are the auto-body shops.

Where do I sign up.

I have often wished there was a system where some random stranger could do burnouts and doughnuts in my car to save me a few bucks on parking. How many parking days do I need to save to cover a set of tires and a new transmission?

This could be the crux of the situation. Who are the people who would want to rent their cars and what do they drive? When I get a rental I get a modern clean inconspicuous vehicle. I've doubled the mileage on my last 6 rentals, it's become a game now. If I was offered a '70s monstrosity with 21" rims and old beer cans under the seats I'd be worried about being shot or arrested. I don't want someone's beater.

When I was younger my car was most of my net worth. I paid for every nut and bolt with my hard work and there was no way anyone was ever going to get behind the wheel except me. I've mellowed a little now, but still, I'm not renting.

Pretty lame. When you see this sort of desperation in the startup world you know you've hit rock bottom and the idea well has run dry. Same garbage you saw right before the dot.com bubble destructively popped.
