I'd like to think he'd wear an Explorer, 39mm. Just like mine.

An excerpt from the latest licensed-by-Fleming-estate book......Carte Blanche 007 by Jeffery Deaver........
"Onto his wrist he slipped his steel Rolex Oyster Perpetual, the 34-mm model, date window its only complication; Bond did not need to know the phases of the moon or the exact moment of high tide at Southampton. And he suspected very few people did."

Ian Flemming publications was set up by Ian Flemming and his partner ran it up to 2000/2001. It is now ran by members of the Flemming family. What does that mean ? Some literary people run the publications and pay members of the Flemming family to sit on their board of directors to keep things "authentic". I have not read Carte Blanche and despite having every intention of doing so, I won't ever associate it with Flemming or the "original" Bond in any way. The guy who wrote it was just lucky enough to be picked by a company that have connections to Flemming. Literary genius is not hereditary and I can't think of many great authors whose children went on to also be considered "great". |

He'd wear a gold Cartier Tank on a black strap (would be the proper watch with a Tux, if you wear a watch with a Tux at all!!).

for all of the past bonds, sub no doubt! for daniel craig (who I think has been doing a really good job, even though he is so different to the genre) could easily pull off a ss daytona with his "wealthy, beaches of italy" yachty attire. in a tux prob a DD platy.

i recall reading the Jason Bourne books by robert ludlum, (back in the early eighties) and in a page that stands out in my mind (from ~memory) , Jason Bourne while on a mission needed some local currency and traded in what i recall as a expensive chronograph (daytona?) for a digital casio Gshock type watch... the text began to describe his practical rational of needing the precision and not such high quality... just thought it was an interesting perspective, one spy to another.

Perhaps we should ask what would Q issue to 007? The rate at which Bond destroys all his tools, he would have to go with what the government gives him. Everytime he takes charge of a nice piece of kit, be it a plane, a car or another gadget, you can be sure it will not survive to the end of the story......

Great quote! I also love the healthy contempt for Breitling later in the book. |

One of them new fangled Japanese TV watches that doubles as a videophone. Think Maxwell Smart and uber cool. Naturally it would be matt black and have no numbers or writing until asked or driven by some special bio-rythm known only to him. undoubtedly it would have a rocket launcher in it along with the tried and proven magnet used as per the bezel in one of the films.

I think the Breitling in the movie Thunderball is the Geiger-counter piece, though I'm not sure if that is also referenced in the novel. |

I'm thinking something like this would look lovely with his tux and a platinum chain with a glass pendent filled with diamonds. Just saying.
