Cant believe I did it either, but just spent 4000.00 on the new Jura Z10.
Amazing machine is all I can say, and it was dirt cheap considering all the money I saved not buying Rolex's over the past few years. lol
But wait, there is more, just flopped down another 400 for the milk cooler that keeps the milk ready to go connected by a tube.

In advance, thank you all!

Cheap and espresso machine do not go together. It’s not worth spending less than $500 or so, and at that point you’re in breville territory. I would buy a Moka pot for $40 and do it that way. If you’re going to spend money on a machine, you should buy one that’s going to last, and kick out espresso worth drinking. Cheap cheap machines for $200 won’t be able to build enough pressure.

You might be able to find a lever press for a few hundred bucks that might work. The flair espresso lever is about $175.

I use a French press and a chemex. Both are great and easy. My brother has the technivorm moccamaster and it is very impressive.

I don’t do espresso, cappuccino, etc, I’m just a drip coffee guy. I have had a technivorm moccamaster for about 4 months now and am very happy with it.

As others have already said.

Moka pot + milk frother will make fantastic coffee ! (I just found it a bit of a faff because I drink a lot)

If you want Moka pot quality+ but with huge convenience it’s going to cost you. The answer is Jura.

If you want a pot of coffee then Technivorm.

Coffee maker

This is a really old thread but there’s lots of Jura talk.

They are bloody fantastic!!!

Worth every damn penny. My wife lost her mind when I bought it. £1,200. She couldn’t live without it now. 4-6 coffees every single day without fail.

What they don’t tell you (and nobody seems to have mentioned)

I reckon I’ve spent another £1,200 on maintenance products

I’d still buy another one tomorrow if it broke.

So Juras are fully automatic machines right? Not like a Profitec etc with manual controls, so basically you get what you get right?

Fill it with water, fill it with coffee beans, fill it full of milk (if you want latte, flat white, cappuccino etc)

Press the magic button

Et voilà!!!!

That’s what I thought. So it’s awesome, but maybe not a full on coffee nerd (ie CIS) kind of machine. I swear I’ve used one before at a dealership of some sort.

So I consider myself a bit of a coffee addict.

I have both a Jura Z10 and an ECM Syncronika along with a Ceado E5SD single dose grinder. Here's the scoop:

Compared to any k-cup, the Z10 produces a cup that is head and shoulders superior. But there is no comparison between the output of the Z10 and the ECM. My Syncronika makes the best espresso drinks I've had anywhere.

No, if you’re a proper coffee nerd you’d probably want a full pro barista style machine that gives you complete control. Easy to get wrong but spectacular when you dial it in.

Probably also 3-4 times+ what a decent Jura machine would cost too.

I’d like to think that a Jura consistently delivers 90% of what a barista style machine would with the press of a single button. No faff at all. For that… it’s worth every single penny.

Totally agree. And a stunning machine to boot.

But convenience vs quality that’s where the Jura wins.

P.S. it’s been referenced numerous times in this thread. What the hell is a K-cup?

Love the moccamaster, we have one and IMO it's probably the best in its price range. We also enjoy a good old fashioned French press when making one or two cups only.

I looked up the Jura (never heard of it before this thread), looks like an amazing machine that would be fun to use, but I'd have top get my head around that price first. Maybe one day.

Yeah I really like the Synconika, Profitec 700, etc…. And if I had a water softener at the moment I’d get one. But it’ll have to wait til I can get a decent setup rolling

Came here to say this. We got one about 6 months ago.

IMHO it is hard to beat. Plus, it isn't a "disposable" machine when something breaks. Parts are sold and your able to replace them (brewing coil etc.).

European made and great quality.

Coffee maker

Our Jura of about 7 years finally had an error I could not fix. Traded it in to Jura for a new S8 and love it. The amount of money I have saved over going to a coffee shop for the past 7+ years has more than paid for it.

I frequented this thread a while back while investigating a proper coffee maker. Bit the bullet and bought a Jura. I will probably never buy another as this thing is a tank and like you said SO EASY to make a great cup (or 3 or 4) cups a morning. wake up, turn on and press one button. Done.

Love my Jura.

A friend recommended the Farberware 50124, a coffee maker. I think it works for me, it's easy on the wallet, and it's super durable stainless steel. A point that seems perfectly adequate to me is that I find it very convenient to take it with me everywhere. You can use this device in the middle of camping without worrying about outlets and cords. All you need is a stove to set up the painting set and start brewing coffee.
