Meters problem...

I have had dives with divemasters who wear their lifelong owned 50m wr rated timex. Some dives well below 30m. The issue isn’t the water resistance. It’s the water pressure on the gas contained within the watches. Regardless, the Timex I have seen go down that deep survived

Watch owners (surprisingly not Rolex this time) ask the darnedest things.

I mean... Andythomson78 clearly has the correct answer regarding how water resistance ratings work. I don't know why the other guy is questioning it

In all seriousness, this is classic

Can't say if they were joking or not, probably were.

Related sort of: I'd wager that half the people who know of the book "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" don't know what a league is and think the title means they were really, really, really deep under the sea.

LOL, I read a blurb on this one day in a random trivia clickbait and the writer of the article said that if it was actually referring to depth, Nemo & company would have been all the way through the Earth and well on their way to the moon! It's like a fathom. Most people today don't know what that measurement refers to.
