Models Availability

MODELS AVAILABILITY
"All Rolex watches are assembled by hand with the utmost care to ensure exceptional quality. Such high standards naturally restrict our production capacity and, at times, the demand for our watches outpaces this capacity.

Therefore, the availability of certain models may be limited. New Rolex watches are exclusively sold by Official Rolex Jewelers, who receive regular deliveries and independently manage the allocation and sales of watches to customers.

Official Rolex Jewelers can provide information on the availability of Rolex watches."

Saw this on the Rolex website and thought it might be of interest. It confirms that new watches are only sold through ADs and ADs independently manage allocation and sales. So, policy this or that is really just that AD's policy.

If it helps a newbie then the reminder is worth the digital ink. So not a problem repeating it again.

The experienced collector has known this for years.

As much as Rolex wants us to believe that’s true it’s not

Of course it's not true throughout the world. only in Rolex idealized business model.

Many countries control import federally, so Rolex goes to their government distribution centers. Where it goes from there is entirely up to the government agency controlling supply and demand - or graft.

The autonomy that ADs have over how to advertise, display and sell Rolex watches is a fraction of what it once was.

Rolex have a strong hand in "guiding" policy which is why you see such uniformity at points of sale around the world.

Case in point, if it were up to individual stores, do you think they would spend many tens of thousands of dollars to build Rolex areas in their store, from which they have little if any product on display or for sale.

Or, does the "exhibition stock" idea make more sense as an ADs policy or a 'suggestion' from The Crown? I promise you, no AD wants to display professional models that they cannot sell, it's akin to showing the bull a red cape
