18mm buckle?
I would like a 18mm Rolex signed stainless buckle. Are the ones on eBay genuine? Any other sources I should check out before I call an AD?
Thanks |

I'd be very leery of parts on eBay. Only buy from reputable sources.

The only I'd say is that if you did buy through ebay and subsequently found it to be fake - As long as you went through the ebay system you do have an excellent buyers protection.they have had to create this or noone would buy anything.
Good luck.(read their policy and put your mind at ease) |

Rolex straps and buckles taper down to 16mm. I don't know where you would find an "authentic" 18mm at.
A SS buckle would be very rare indeed since straps/buckles are only on Cellini now days you would have to go back quite a ways when they put straps on SS models.

Thanks for the info. I have to assume the ones on EBay are fakes then.

I went to my local AD when looking for a buckle. The prices were ridiculous for a tiny buckle but they can confirm on sizes

I have vintage ones and as Larry said you have to go back a ways to find original ones and they are all 16mm.

I can't claim to know very much about these buckles, but upon reading the description of the second listing you posted:
"Dear friend, it is the replacement after market Rolex buckle for your vintage collection." -I would suspect its not genuine because the seller called it "after market"...

Calling off the search, thanks for the info. I guess I will get a 16mm buckle or nothing.

Maybe you could consider buying a new croc strap from RSC? That's how I recently acquired a buckle. They had no problem selling me a croc strap ($360 including buckle) with my service, even for a watch that never came on a strap as far as I know (Air King Date).
Not very cost-effective if you don't have any use for the croc strap though...and I haven't tried buying a strap without getting a service as well. BTW I'm pretty sure even a 20mm Rolex croc strap uses a 16mm buckle. |
