It’s a real shame

As the Rolex hype insanity has continued to increase, the quality of content on the forum has continued to plummet.

You now have to read between endless spam to get to the great content that kept me here.

How many threads do we have to read from noobs about:
1. How long will it take to get X watch?
2. Rolex makes a million watches a year. Is my datejust rare?
3. Should I send my AD a gift for taking my money?
4. Is my datejust a good investment?
5. Does my diamond encrusted “Rollie” have enough wrist presence?

If only these kind of repetitive threads could go to the spam folder. It’s a shame the board has gotten to this.

You left out "incoming" followed by 10 pages of "congrats."

How many unique watch topics can there be? I figure by now literally everything has been discussed.

And if somebody can’t talk about the watch they bought, what’s the point?

I hear ya OP. I’ve felt the same way the last couple of years. I just try to focus on only the stuff I am interested in. Some of those “nonsense” threads are still fun to read for comic relief. There is still a lot of good here, it just takes a bit longer to find now.

I’d be thrilled to have some interesting chat threads more. Especially on the technical side, but what I typically see happen is people shoot it down pretty quick. Posts about accuracy gets hit with “there’s 84600 seconds in a day why do you even care if your watch is off” comments. Or comparisons on submariner variations and that gets hit with “why would you care about tiny differences no one cares about”. I totally agree there’s too many bland incoming posts or the dreaded investment question. Seems like there’s a lot more on hype over horology round here

Well, to be fair gentlemen...

TRF could use another sub-board for 'value' and 'whining while waiting' (ok, maybe two more boards).

I'll donate $100 to get 'er done.

From a different perspective as a new forum member I have found many of these topics interesting. However, I can see in time they would get old.

Enjoying the forum for now. I’m not sure if I wish I picked up this interest sooner or not at all, but it’s definitely here to stay now. I appreciate the information on this forum.

Came to post something similar. It's surprising how many people post a lot but don't bother ponying up a few $$$ to support the forum.

I don't get the incoming threads here. Incoming means you bought something but it hasn't arrived yet, like an online purchase, but people here post incoming threads with wrist shots. New Watch Day is what it is.

This forum becomes a watch stock market. Try to ask "watch investment gurus" what the difference between zenith el primero and 4031 movement…I doubt they’ll known. But they posting Daytona everyday price increase.

It’s a real shame

I’m sure there are boards dedicated to discussing only the great content you used to enjoy here.

I’m not sure what sort of content you enjoy that does not get repetitive after a while either though.

The repetition of themes, questions and issues is an unavoidable aspect of online forums.

Or is this longing for the supposed old days an expression of unhappiness that the ‘undeserving’ have now joined the club?

I am sure everything has been discussed. Perhaps further posting should be disabled and TRF should just be an archive with a search function.
