I bought mine a few months ago from a very reputable dealer in NYC and didn’t pay anywhere near the prices being asked on chrono24. I paid a bit over where a 5167 is selling these days but given that the 5167 doesn’t fit me the premium was worth it.

Having a 38mm with the integrated strap and the updated dial is so much better to me than the 5065.

Just my two cents.

Great watch, great size.

I do remember coming across them when I joined forum in 2011.

Haven’t thought about 5165 until I read your post.

5165 is asking for a premium over 5167 thats not absurd...
When you state premium do you mean a premium to the already inflated 5167 ask (around $26-$28k USD) or the MSRP?

By the way, it was your instagram that piqued my interest in the 5165! Great photos!!

same. premium to the current secondary market price of the 5167. but so worth it in my opinion. i love the 5165 and wear it considerably more often than my 5712.

5165A came with both Caliber 315 and 324, not sure which one is the rarest out of the two. I have also not seen a single 5165A with a Patek seal which supports the production ended before 2009.

The rarest will be the 10 5065As produced in 2014 with caliber 324.

Mine has the 324 and the Geneva Seal. It’s dated 2008. There is one on chrono24 right now that’s from 2010 and has the Patek seal. First I had seen one of those.

Here’s mine. The reason to choose this ref is not only that it is rare, butte size is just perfect for me. Although I have flat wrists and wear 40mm sportsmodels, this 5165 is just the right size.

Enjoying the 5165 very much! I don’t think I have another watch in my collection which size fits me so well. Glad I got the 65 over the 67, for several reasons, but mostly the size

Worldoftime now have got a 5165 for sale w Patek seal which they say is from 2011. So produced much longer than I thought above. Just checked Chrono24 out of curiosity - supply has increased to 13 pieces on offer currently while prices have come down quite a bit since last year.

-The dial being more balanced (date window).
-Discontinued
-on chrono there are 250 5167’s for sale, only
13 5165’s of which 8 in Europe. I like having a watch that is a bit less
common.

I’m very keen to add a 5165 to my collection, but sadly it’s going to have wait. This year has been crazy and I’ve added a gold Daytona, a Royal Oak, and a Royal Oak Offshore. Only one was planned!

Ha. Can so relate to this. Best laid plans I guess...I thought there wasn’t much I was interested in recently and proceeded to add two FPJs soon thereafter.

FPJ is on my list for when I’m a proper grown up!! Amazing watches, but not quite ready for it!

I can’t claim grown up status...well, maybe in age but not otherwise.

As for the 5165, it’s one of my favorites. I, like you, also love the 15450 and it’s fit and think the 5165 is a great size for the aquanaut. It has all the characteristics of the 5167 but just fits my smaller wrist better.

I’ve not seen a 5165 in person, how does the size/fit compare with the 15450? I’m hoping it’s very similar.

Here are pics of both. I would say lug to lug the 5165 is a bit smaller just given that APs wear larger. But the way the rubber bracelet on the 5165 curves out rather than down because of the way it’s integrated, they wear somewhat similarly.
