I went and check out with the AD on 5235 R. I was given the following :

1. AD needs to vet buyer to ensure is end user for models that were launched 2 years and less.

2. UK as 2 year waiting list for this model

3. This is a low production model.

Anyone has similar experience? I just want to validate what they said to me.

I’m surprised by this tbh.

Before the lockdown, I’ve seen this at >3 PP stores in Singapore over a few weeks. I tried it on my wrist at the MBS outlet and the SA was very excited to see my interest in it. Much prefer the G personally.

Thanx. Hence I am fairly skeptical on what they said.

I saw the 5235R pre-lockdown in the London salon if I have it right, and frequently saw it on display at several ADs (London, Switzerland during ski holidays).

I passed on the 5235G a year ago as I thought I like the R better. Having tried on the R in the meantime, I regretted not buying the G and now managed to track probably one of the last ones down at an AD. Not buying on Chrono24 personally but you could find them there at a discount...

I love the concept and design of both the G and R. The one thing I would have preferred is simplicity in the watch and not have the AC complication. I found it hard to read the calendar functions anyway.

If you own the watch, after a few hours on the wrist, the AC just melt away an disappeared into that spectacular dial.

The watch is widely available in UK.

G version was not a low production model so I can't see R being a low production model.

My AD in the US tired selling me a piece but wouldn’t offer a discount. This would be been my fifth PP purchase from the AD...you’d think they would extend something.

I expect slowdown in sales in the coming months which may lead to better deals for customers. Having said that, there is also a school of thought that Patek products are inelastic to economic shocks. We shall see and time will tell.

Of all pieces, I would expect a discount as is is already discounted on the secondary market.

ALS regulator in white gold with the black dial is the watch to get if you want a regulator. Way more expensive than the 5235 though.

AD in Burlingame, CA has one in the case right now - talking about R. I tried it. beautiful but not at retail. I tried the good old bundling with a 5164A but obviously dealer did not want to hear about it.

Damn really? I also saw the "R" in Singapore sitting in a case at MBS PP boutique as well as at my local dealer here in CA. Can't believe they won't give a discount.

Congrats, good call! Pics when you have it.

I toyed with one this weekend again for the umpteenth time. Almost in love, can’t get there though thinking I want the g more.

I think they are relatively readily available - my AD had one in store available to purchase.
From what I’ve heard - the G is in low numbers because Patek has a couple of issues with the movement and it wasn’t as accurate as they would have liked. They then corrected it somewhat but still weren’t entirely happy so pulled it completely.

They then relaunched having got the movement to the standard they wanted in the R.

The person who told me this is pretty clued in and not one for hyperbole so I believe him but take it as you will.

Either way, the R I saw was an absolutely stunning watch.

interesting but that the watch called the regulator had movement problems is kind of ironic

Edit: David SW has a G for 36k https://davidsw.com/watches/patek-ph...r-regulator-2/

Well I was toying between this and 5524. But I can’t get over the fact that 5235 is very different from the rest and is an ‘adventurous’ watch

I gave 5524 the pass since I am supposed to get the 5164 next.

And also the movement is very distinctive.

Congrats! For me, I’d got for the 5235 over the 5524 everyday of the week but it’s all subjective at the end of the day.

5235 is an awesome looking watch.
Generally, I’m way less keen on the Aquanauts - just don’t see what the fuss is about - would go nautilus every time but, again, it’s all subjective!

Enjoy them!

Congrats, I bought the 5235G recently (from an AD) and still amazed by its uniqueness, its dial and its understatement, a true joy.

Unfortunately I struggle to upload pics on this forum.
