I think the comments there are being too kind. There's something about this release which isn't just unimpressive, but almost insulting. I'm sure some people will genuinely like that dial and the hands, and fair enough (though personally not my cup of tea), but the case is flat and featureless, the movement is old, the buckle is rubbish, the water resistance is non-existent, and the engraving is something I can't stand in a Grand Seiko, though at least they've been doing this particular travesty for a while...

And then there are the alternatives available for the price.

Even if I could get one, it'd be a hard pass.

Definitely controversial piece for Patek, especially when it is a limited release. I remember when Patek released the limited edition 5650G everyone was appalled at the “Terminator” appearance and that it was not a watch with Patek DNA. Now the 5650G is a collector’s dream reference to own! I, myself, find some features if this particular reference appealing such as the hour numeral lumes, SS case, and 40mm case size on a Calatrava reference. This is a sleeper hit that will one day be looked back as a cornerstone piece for future Calatrava references. I’m definitely placing my order in for one!

I like it but at that price I'd rather have a NOS 5296.

It's unfair to speak of the 5650g in the same breath as this.

You’re right, I wasn’t a fan of the 5650g when it came out.

Hard to take the comments on Hodinkee seriously when most people there can’t fathom spending 2k on a watch let alone 22k or more.

I really like this piece. It’s modern, it’s unique, it’s Patek. My only issue is I prefer their larger watches so I’ll pass on this but will be curious to see how it does long term.

I do not believe it will do as well as 5522. There were only 600 pieces of that watch. This one has 1000.

5522 was US only.

Fair point but I think today where watches are released is a bit irrelevant due to the ease of commerce and shipping worldwide.

It was impossible to buy a 5522 new from a US AD without a relationship. No none US AD was allowed an allocation.

Yes agree. I was referring to resale and second hand.

lol you mean this: "the steel, non-sports watch daily driver, for a new kind of client who still wants all the blue-blood appeal that Patek has to offer, but in a more contemporary and stealthy chassis."

hahahhha it reads like when they describe a perfume fragrance online: strong, maskuline and urban with hints of leather and lemon.

For a real collector this 6007 is very important, because its different than all the other pieces from PP, its very modern and fresh in an old but beautiful case with a perfect classic movement.
And it will be the last piece in that case and with that movement !!

--> don't forget the 6006G-001 will be discontinued !
"Last Edition old Manufacture" would be the better name for that piece

That's what I thought about the Lange Odysseus and I have been turned down for that watch. Patek would rather not make the watch, and the attendant profit, than sell to the steerage passengers.

I actually like it...put in an order with my AD, they said they only expected to get 1, so I imagine my chances are minimal

Exactly!!

Who made the decision to put 2019 on a 2020 LE?
I guess that this wouldn‘t have happened under Philippe Stern and the printed crystal which GS is rightly getting criticized for.
