Buying Aquanaut at AD
I spent money around $80,000 to the AD but I did not buy Patek only I bought Rolex since last September.
They would offer me to buy Aquanaut? What do you think? |

Doubt it. There have been people here who have spent well over $100,000 who still havent been offered the hot pieces

Depends on the population and demographics of the city your AD is in.
New York? Probably not. Gothenburg in Sweden. Much better chance I’d say.

I think if you walk into the AD wearing a cut off t shirt that says “suns out, guns out” while telling them how much money you have spent there, you probably have a good chance of getting any model you want.

If you spent $80K on Patek, then the AD may put you on a waiting list (real or imaginary).
If you spent $80K on PM Rolex, then you may be asked to buy another less popular Patek first. If you spent $80K on SS Rolex, then consider yourself lucky that you got all the hot Rolex watch models from the AD. From my experience with ADs that carry both Patek and Rolex, they separate clients into Patek or Rolex client. Rolex clients do not necessarily get greater access to popular Patek watches and vice versa. |

80k is 80k and I don't care if you bought pencils from the AD, it is a purchase. Is it good enough to qualify for a hot watch, maybe. Go have a discussion with the AD and see what they tell you. Do this in person speak with your SA and the manager at the same time so the message is heard and understood on both sides. Act accordingly.

+1 I’ve taked to many ADs and most of them said the same thing as jon. Some said it doesn’t carry because the purchase is made from a “lower” brand to a “higher” brand. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I got 2 years ago my Aquanaut 5167 AD retail. I had no fine biz with them for 10 years or so, the last was Panerai Radiomir rose gold at that time $12k. So stop by chatted with sales guy and put me on list in October. I got called the following June. So you never know. That AD keeps treating well after that, a Pepsi in 10 days las Xmas, a white SS Daytona in 6 months (as requested June 8 or before, and a DJ41 blue 2 weeks later. No waiting to replace my DD 36 White Romans with the same but DD 40 and not here yet after 3 weeks!so go figure. At another AD got Hulk recently asking in 1 eeel after I reminded them that: 1) I had spent 100k in last two years and competition got me 3 great watches pronto. At a new 3rd AD relationship(haven’t bought there in years) as we chatted about collecting, my collection, etc, I asked about a AirKing, and got in a week. So go figure. Maybe the YG is still in the mine

I also think if you spent 80K with them, its makes no difference on which brand. Money is money. I would ask and you will probably get it at some point.

80k is a lot of money. But there are probably others who have spent far more. Of those others, who knows if they have asked for one. This was my circuitous logic to say I guess it depends. Just ask. I imagine the worst things that can happen are you say no or you burn your bridges for something else you’d really like. But I doubt they will not want you as a client in the future.

I spent $29k in the Rolex side of the boutique, and $50k at the Patek side between November 2018 and December 2019 (essentially the same dollar amount you spent). Just as COVID lockdowns hit I received a call regarding a 5168G that just came in, thought about it for a second before pulling the trigger. Not sure how the availability of the 5168 compares with 5167, but I assume it has much fewer production numbers.

If you already mentioned your high interest to the AD in an Aquanaut while spending 80k on Rolex and haven't been offered than no. If you haven't mentioned your interest in an Aquanaut while making rolex purchases than maybe. All comes down to does the AD know you want an Aquanaut or not while you made all your Rolex purchases?

Did you ask the AD yet? What did they say?
