Exit Watch
Let's play a little game:
If you were going to trade ALL your current watches to a single "grail watch" and then wear that for the rest of your life and in time pass it on to your son, which Patek (new of vintage) would you settle for as your "exit watch"? |

Man 5270 from nyc2la sure looks like it BUT if only one, I'd go more versatile with platinum 5711

Cheers! Right now, my 5270, but I withhold judgment until I see the 5170p (if and when it comes out - one can dream, right?) 👏🍻 Footnote, my Platona is so versatile and dreamy. It fits the bill for a one and only, but the 5270 trumps it, IMHO, in the heirloom category.

Well I couldn't do that but if I was inclined to try, it would be a 5711P.

Honestly don't know that there is one but this is so lovely.
If water resistant to 100meters and 2-3mm bigger, I would sell everything to own it as my one and only. Pictured hear with Ben clymers sweater

For me either the 5396, 5159 or 5205
Just the hands on the first two I could sit and look at all day. |

Sadly, probably a steel nautilus 5712, 5726, or the 5164.
Not that I have to sell my collection to get it, but one of those would be a Patek, that if I could have just one watch, would make me happy to wear every day. |

That's actually a tough question for me. Prestige, movement and general "wow" factor wise my grail is the 3970J. But I know I wouldn't be able to wear that watch everyday, but would only put it on for special occasions. So it wouldn't work as an only watch. Therefore I'd pick a sporty steel Patek, probably the 5990. Unless of course Patek rolls out a steel Nautilus perpetual calendar this year...

I talked to my 17 years old son during Christmas and I told him that I am going to offer him a watch for his 18.
His answer has been: I know it represents a lot to you but I will have such a marvelous watch when I will be able to afford it So,so,so I can't play the game |
