Who is paying over 50k for white dial Daytona

Just took AC quick glance at Chrono24 and saw SS Daytonas at crazy prices.
Is there anyone here that would admit to that?
Does anyone know someone who would admit to that?

I will never stop shaking my head on the subject of Rolex.

Other dealers. I feel like a lot of these prices we are seeing and being propelled by dealers just buying from other dealers, then marking it up, then listing for their price + a few thousand. Rinse and repeat, then you get a watch that should sell for $14,500 going for $50k.

Obviously, there are end users buying these watches at these prices, but I think a big chunk of the "buyers" of all these inflated watches are just other dealers.

Bad form and none of your business. Would you ask how much money a stranger makes??

Why do you need verification? Are you trying to buy one at MSRP and are frustrated that you cannot? The prices, at least in the US, are what they are. Supply is limited and when that happens....well....you know the rest.

I’m guessing there are a lot of people paying that amount. That’s how the price got there I think and I’m afraid by the end of the year this price will be cheap.

have you see the G Aquanauts? The Daytona is just 4x its retail price :) 5712 also for example. And no, I would not buy one, I had already one, and I'd get an AP RO for 50k instead, any day of the week.

It’s all kind of arbitrary whether 14k or 50. I can tell you I’d rather have a Daytona for 50k than a diamond of equal value, yet people pay 50k for diamonds every day.

I saw a movie once and some guy named Bruno the Moneywasher never answered this question. Something about $5000 per/lb coffee beans.

This is nearly identical to a thread on the PP sub that asked, nearly four years ago, "who is paying $50k for a 5711?"

This thread could age similarly at this rate.

Debating paying up for a black one. I debated a year ago as well . I'll be kicking myself when they double in price again.

Never a bad time to get in, still room to grow!!

Love my white dial D (that was double MSRP at the time of purchase).

I think more recently it’s the guy or gal that bought Bitcoin or some other form of crypto at least in 2019. At least I can see that when I’m on Reddit.

Yes, because social-media-driven fashions and trends aren't remotely fickle and they never change, so Rolex watches will only EVER go up. Remember that everyone! It's a never-ending gravy-train!

75k by end of the year. 200k by end of 2023. Well over a million in 5 years time. 10 million the year after that. I reckon 50 million, MINIMUM, in 10 years time. Exponential growth with zero downside! Re-mortgage your houses, sell your children, sell you kidneys (both of them!). Just buy, buy, BUY, and do it now, now, NOW! Nothing can possibly go wrong!

No one I know, people with that kind of money buy Gold bullion.

I guess its a bunch of chancers just hanging a Hi price tag on something hoping to catch a passing idiot.

Please, if you own one already tell us how much you paid for it and when.

It never gets old, we simply love hearing people brag about how much they paid for a watch. It’s great, I can never get enough.

I bought mine for $350 in 2014. Doesn’t that make me a winner at life somehow?

If people are prepared to drop 6 figures on a JPEG of a monkey, are you really shocked that a Daytona is $50K?

This, or a virtual yacht for half a million dollars. Insanity.
