Would you guys enlighten me on the Montblanc Starwalker

I am deciding between the ballpoint and the fine point, is it completly personal preference? Is one better then the other?

any input would be appreciated

(i will be getting the rubberized version)

When you say fine point are you speaking of a fountain pen or perhaps the fine liner felt tipped?

Really suggest you goto the shop and see for yourself first.
My understanding is that fineliner starwalker can use the refill for rollerballs so you do have an alternative if you find that you don't like the felt tips.
One major difference is that for ballpens, they come in one single piece and for rollerballs/fineliners, they come in cap and barrel - 2 pieces. It really boils down to personal preferences.

It may not be felt but definitely it's not a ball tip. As long as you're happy with the performance then to each their own.

If you are going to go with the fineliner as Kai said that would be the way to go because you can use the rollerball refills. Also the cap does post by screwing onto the barrel!!!

Yep! The Fineliner does have a felt material at the point and they do also swap out for the roller ball refills. It is the best of both worlds if you don't want a FP.

I have owned them and they are nice, but always went back to the FP.

You can Google up lots of information on the FL.

I prefer roller ball, but that is just my preference. I am a lefty, so fountain pens smear too much for me. I like the thick line of a roller ball.

DRMOVIE1, I own the rubberized Starwalker in the ball point and rollerball versions. I prefer the rollerball because I like the way the ink flows!!!

Got my starwalker last week. Thank you all for the information, went with the fine liner.

Very heavy, and smooth pen. The cap twisting on and off securly reminds me of a german car door.

Now I have had chance to write with this regularly, I do like the FL. But, it does seem to have "worn" and so can be thick on one side and write thinner if you turn the pen around. I bought a rollerball refill and I have tried that twice, but it seems to be very thin and scratchy when writing??? Not at all like smooth and "flowing" if you see what I mean? It was a Medium rollerball as well so at the moment I do not like the rollerball.
Maybe I have not used it enough, LOL.
Anyway, I got my eye on the Mark Twain! Haha, I wish. Wow.

I too own the rubber and lattice MontBlanc Starwalker in both the ball point pen and roller ball. I'm using the fine refills and do not have a problem at all...maybe you have a bad refill!!!

Bump on this - I am going through a similar decision, although I am looking at it from the rubber / plat or the resin. The rubber is more comfortable to me but I'm not sure how it will stand the test of time. I can picture fingernail prints and other imperfections starting to appear pretty quickly. Anyone have long-term test results?

I ended up picking the black mystery over the rubber lattice pen from mb. I can't say anything definitive, I just liked the look more. I guess in my opinion the bm seemed a bit more exotic to me, but then again, I'm very new to this pen thing...

I've been using my bm for a while and I absolutely love it!

You guys however are making me want a fountain pen. However as a broken wrist lefty, I don't know if it will work for me....

You never know it might just work. I have a dislocated right wrist and have to hold my pens differently to get them to write...so you never know!!!
