3135 real trooper

Kinda a cool to think my 1989 date just and my 2019 sub both have the 3135 movement. Both +/- 1 sec a week.

Pretty amazing to think a 30 year old movement is keeping time as good as a new one.

Like I said...3135 is a real trooper.

I really don’t get the anticipation for a new movement in the Sub. The 3135 just works, and probably more serviceable over the long haul. I don’t have any need for extra power reserve.

I’ll second that.

I agree it's a great movement.

You're right, but I expect nothing less from the 32xx series. Just give it some time to prove itself.

If there’s a new model I might add a no date but I love my last year 3135 in this model sub.

Newer isn’t necessarily better. But I have an open mind, as said above time will tell.

This is an article I came across comparing the 3135 to 3235 by a watchmaker. Pretty interesting read.

Agreed. The 3135 is an outstanding, proven movement. It's power reserve has been sufficient for a very long time.

And with routine maintenance it will still be powering Rolex watches for ad infinitum.

It really is a mechanical marvel that these things are machined and fitted to such precise tolerances that they work very so efficiently, but most of all just flat out keep going.

A friend of mine has his grandfathers Day Date from 1974, its runs just fine and it’s only been serviced twice!

I think the anticipation around the new movement is around a 70 hour PR. IMHO 40 hours is pretty low For modern watches costing ~$10k. Many will say it doesn’t matter, but I’ve found the difference is setting your watch Monday morning after not wearing it over the weekend vs it still running.

I agree, I would be happy to have a watch with 3135 movement, it's time proven and probably easy to service when needed. The 70 hour reserve time on the newer movements is impressive. I do own a watch with 3255 movement and it incorporates all the latest improvements. But I am also okay with winding my speedy pro.

And so is the caliber 3000 in my 1996 Sub 14060! It keeps excellent time (just serviced at my RSC last summer). They're both solid, tough workhorses, and I certainly haven't babied mine! It will probably outlast me...

The 3135 is my preferred movement at the moment. There have been lubrication issues with the initial run of the 3235, which has resulted in the need for warranty work on new watches. No such issue with the 3135. Also, a big shout out to the 3055 movement which powers my 1986 DD ... still going strong within COSC specs.
