Timing was on my side!

I have a very large collection of high end watches and my wife has been extremely supportive over the years, and actually presented me with a Rolex Daytona - white gold with flex bracelet for my 75th birthday.

She has a few nice watches ( JLC) herself, but has really never shown much passion to get into this hobby herself.

So, just after Thanksgiving I thought it really would be nice if she had her very own Patek Philippe and after some research I decided that a blue ladies Nautilus (7118) with diamonds would "be the ticket" and look great on her wrist and called my AD what would be the chances of getting this watch for her this Christmas.

I caught him at home and he thought it was hysterically funny that I thought I could get this watch within a month, however, he promised to check when back at the office.

He called me the next morning and told me - clearly quite amazed himself that-- yes, they have one more blue steel with diamonds coming in and it could be mine if I wanted it. I never said yes quicker in my life and indeed it arrived the following week and by now is in my possession waiting for Christmas.

I guess it did help that I have been buying most my watches from this AD over the last 30 years, but nevertheless, as always in life - timing is everything.

I am really thrilled with my purchase and I hope will like this watch as much as I do.

Congrats on a great pick up. That’s a nice story. I hope your wife loves her new PP Nautilus, with diamonds. I know I would….

I try not to contact my AD at his home, that’s where he draws the line

Congrats to her in advance. Pictures to follow I hope.

Wow, truly was on your side! In my experience, transactions like that are so much more rewarding. You get the feeling that it was just “meant” to be. Can’t beat that! Congratulations, sir! A lucky lady, indeed :)

If he did not have an 7118 to give, no amount of history could overcome that obstacle.

I think I happen to call at exactly the right moment for exactly the right watch, and yes, we have a 30 year relationship with this AD.

Let’s test the theory. See if he can get you a 5811 to match for Christmas

Maybe my outlook on life is rather more optimistic and so, I want to believe that my timing was perfect to get my wife the present I wanted her to have and that hopefully she will love.

Merry Christmas!

Great timing. I guess Stern had the watch available in NY and were able to allocate to your AD. Otherwise, who knows how long the wait would have been.
Great to hear these stories. Big congrats to your wife.
