Given the thread on the professional line production - I guess most waiting times will effectively maybe double now ....

My AD offered a ceramic Daytona 3 months after picking up a SS Skydweller ... sounds crazy but took me about a week to pull the trigger as the watch wasn’t on my immediate timeline ... aka budget ... So glad I got it has spent as my time on the wrist as the Skydweller

I got on the waiting list in the UK for a white dial Daytona in December and I am 23rd in line. At the time they told me 3-4 years. Various other ADs I had spoken to had closed their lists for various models.

They had mentioned that the stream of watches from Rolex had declined and they have no information why. I guess the production limits had already been in full swing by then. I had planned to get a GMT this year until the Daytona spot comes up but those a thin on the ground in the UK too.

First, congrats on the promotion. DaytonaC sounds like the perfect way to celebrate.

Second, having your name on the card is not a a big deal IMO. I bought mine with someone else's name on the card and it hasn't dampened the experience one iota. In fact, I haven't even looked at the card/box since the day I came home with the watch (was a local sale). They sit in my closet and are the last thing on my mind when wearing the watch.

The enjoyment comes from wearing the watch, not seeing your name on the card.

It sucks, but if you're in NYC and don't have a relationship with an AD, forget about getting a 116500 anytime soon. My advice is go via a reseller, just do your homework and see if there's a private seller willing to do the deal for less than the crazy premiums.

Yeah - I know what you mean. Thanks for the advice.
Will do some digging and see where I land. Appreciate it.

After approximately 1,5 years of waiting I am going to get my 116500 in less then 2-3 months, my AD already confirmed me that. It's always good to build up a good relationship with an AD especially here in Europe where this watch is very very very sought after.

was first on 2 lists in US and Europe. Never got a call. When contacting my European dealer i was told they don't really have a list, it's a call that only the owner makes on what he decides to do with the watches he get... I was a very good client but moved out so i believed that's why i have no more priorities... :(

Informed my AD that I wanted the black dial in Jun 2017 and received in Dec 2017 though I did pay a small premium.

I thought AD were not allowed by Rolex to increase the price.

So, in Asia, Rolex ADs establish their own prices for the watches? I hope Rolex finds aut about this thing.

I'm in NYC. The Rolex boutique said they aren't even taking wait list requests, and Wempe quoted me 6-7 years. I don't think you're getting one at MSRP any time soon.

They are allowed to use "market pricing" in Asia.
A few years ago (pre-D500) there were 2 or 3 116520s on Orchard Road AD's (including the actual Rolex store), all were "market price", around 17k USD.

I was offered a black dial after a year wait. Turned it down to wait for a white dial to show up. Received a call few weeks back and was offered another black dial. This time I took it.

Here's how I got mine - offered to buy two other SS Rolexes that I really also wanted and was given the "opportunity" to also get a Daytona at the same time. Sorry to say - but must ADs don't have a true list format they are following.

Are maximizing existing customer relationships and opportunities to sell aged inventory first.

I put my name down, no deposit, and got the call after about 6 months. I've spent about $15K (prior to the Daytona) at this AD, that's it.

Called AD on 3/16/16 to put my name on the waitlist for a white dial, landed on the #4 spot. Received the call on 3/19/18 and that's all she wrote.

Also important to point out that I had no prior purchases from this AD, they worked with deposits. Now, it's nearly impossible to get on a waitlist anywhere.

My AD is a large dealership (they have 3 stores Denver/Vegas/newport beach) and they don’t even take anymore names on their list. Very frustrating.

Walked into an AD looking for a BLNR. They had one. But they also had a white 16500 and a black one too. Had about 5 minutes to make a choice. Bought the white Daytona. Should have bought all three. To answer the question - no time on the wait list.

I waited about 8 months from the day I put my name down (August 2016) until the day I got the call (May 2017) from my AD in Los Angeles saying they had one in stock for me. I’d only purchase one watch from them before (DJ II) so I was certainly surprised to be able to get one. My AD rep told me she had to get “special approval” from the CEO in order to sell it to me as it was only the 3rd SS Daytona they’d received so far at that time.

I think the “waiting lists” are bs. The AD decides which of their customers will get one. I visited my AD in May 2017 to buy a DD 36. This was my third purchase with the AD. The salesperson brought out a Daytona and a BLNR on a tray. She said “Look what I found. You may choose one.” I said “oh, thanks for offering, but I’m happy with the DD.” So, no wait list. The strange thing is I’d never even expressed interest in either model. She just assumed. I know this will kill many on this thread, but I just don’t like either watch.
