1815 Chronograph-WG or RG
My dealer has a WG on order since Aug when I contact him but is unable to provide an ETA. Meanwhile, he's a RG (silver dial) that came in several weeks ago. I'll be in Hong Kong next week on a stop-over to NYC and whilst I always prefer WG models, I am tempted to pick-up the RG now since it's in stock. I haven't seen the RG model in person and I always think that the black dial is more 'sporty' hence a better match for a chronograph.
Questions: - what would you do-wait for the WG or get the RG now? - what is a reasonable discount on this model? N.B: the ALS boutiques have both the WG and boutique edition available although I expect them to be less flexible on price. |

I didn't vote yet because it's really a personal preference but I would wait for the version you truly want instead of getting what your dealer has in stock now.
With the pulsometer scale, the watch is definitely more sporty than the 2nd generation, which is my favorite version. The rose gold version here is definitely the most dressy and I really like the blued hands; it's a pity the Boutique Edition doesn't have them. If you're looking for the sportiest version, clearly the black dial is the one to get and it gives you the looks of a Datograph. The Boutique Edition is the middle ground and I love the blue print but the silver hands are a disappointment to me. |

I was actually in a boutique 2 or 3 days ago and tried the white gold black dial and the pink gold white dial. Both gorgeous watches. The black dial is definitely the more versatile watch and also more sporty. The pick gold version is beautiful however has a lot more of a classical look. So it depends what you’re going for.
For me, the white gold black dial works best. |

Though my slightly preference is for the WG black dial because it's more versatile, it's one of the most illegible watches out there IMO. The WG boutique edition has been growing on me and the dial is so crisp. Can't really go wrong with either.

I have tried the 2nd generation and the omission of a pulsation scale makes the watch appears more dressy hence it’s my least favourite. In terms of attire, I seldom wear a suit for work, mostly business casual so a RG may be on the dressy side although that’s balanced somewhat by the more ‘sporty’ dial. I’ve been wanting to get this watch since March when I saw it in the boutique when travelling. At that time, none of the ADs had one and I was not keen to buy from a Lange boutique. Fast forward 8 months and the WG remains on order. The plan is to make a trip once it comes in. But now the RG is available and I can pick up next week. Anyway, I’ve left the door open so will see how I feel once I see the watch. Will also get to see the boutique edition since they didn’t have one last time but the price premium makes it unlikely. Don’t have much time to decide as I’ll be in HK for less than a day (transit only). Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Thanks to those who have voted. Pls. keep them coming.
A little surprised by the results so far-votes are overwhelmingly in favour of the WG model. If there’re owners of the RG model (1, 2, 3 generation) reading this, please feel free to share your thoughts and impressions. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I voted for the RG white dial because the RG black dial was left off the poll. As much as I like the WG black dial, the poor legibility makes it a bit of a non-starter. So the RG black dial would be my choice.

I'd wait for the WG, the black and white PM is a classic Lange combo across the Dato, ZW and now this as well. I wouldn't want to buy a RG Lange and then trade it, buy only keepers.

My two favorites are the boutique white dial and the RG with black dial... but like others have mentioned, personal preference.. cannot go wrong with any choice really because that movement is the same on all of them and I'd be tempted to wear it movement side up

Have you guys handled the black dial wg? I had one and I’m at the age of failing eye sight and that really wasn’t a concern for me on this one.

Black dial for certain, the metal based on your day to day and which would fit more easily in your life.
The Boutiques discount too, not as much as your AD but it's not a zero! |

That RG does look very nice. Much better than the other 2 you shared.

Arrive Wednesday am, then catch the airport train to Central to visit the AD and boutique, followed by dinner with a friend then board a flight to NYC late evening. Something only a WIS can understand. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Between the three in the poll, I'd go with the wg black dial without hesitation. That rg black dial you added later in the thread is the only competing option for my personal preference but I would need to compare the two in person, side by side to really decide.
Good luck, this is a beautiful piece in any form you decide to get it. |

I bought the Boutique Edition a couple of months ago and saw it along with the black dial/rose gold one. As others have said, it’s all personal preferences and you can’t really go wrong with any of them, but I personally don’t like dressy watches in black. I also just think that the blue/white dial of the Boutique Edition is really special.

I prefer the WG Black Dial 1815 chrono. It’s a high end sport model so black is a better combo on white metal. It also resembled to a Datograph.
Good luck on your choice! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

A week before I got the HK the Lange boutique ‘had’ the boutique edition in stock but then it’s sold in the intervening period so I didn’t get to see it. FWIW, the SA told me it can no longer be ordered. So perhaps it’s been discontinued? Quote:
There’s now a reasonable sample size (43) for my informal poll and the result is unanimous (24/43) have voted for the WG. Keep those votes coming! My AD only had the RG white dial in stock. It’s my 3rd or 4th choice and upon seeing it, I didn’t like it as I felt it’s too dressy. Unfortunately, the boutique has tightened their pricing and the price difference (vs AD) was too much. So after some consternation, I was unable to pull the trigger and am waiting for my AD to receive the WG. And SIHH is only a few weeks away so perhaps there’ll be new variations?
