16570 from 92 with etched crown

Hi, I am trying to figure out why my Explorer 2 16570 from 1992 has the etched crown at 6 on the glass? I dont have any service records of the watch. What could be the reasons for this?

Very thankful for any response!

Welcome Frescha - when did you buy it please. I ask as someone here will know when service sapphire/glasses got etched.

Hi fellow Swede!

I´ve had a few 16570 but have never noticed an etched crown in the crystal. Maybe modern service crystals has it?

According to my notes the etched crown was introduced around 1999 so your 16570 from 1992 must have had a replacement crystal fitted sometime after 1999.

Correct, a watch from '92 would not have originally been fitted with an etched crystal, but a more recent replacement could have the etching.

Crystal has been replaced. Not uncommon for a Rolex that has been serviced by RSC. Crystals are almost always swapped at service regardless of condition.
