Danitrio 100 Poems - Purple and Gold

Just received this one yesterday!

Much nicer in person than any photos could convey. The photos seem to show damage on the rush pods (gold dots), but that is just lighting. The pen is close to perfect and I could not find any damage.

There is a poem, or partial poem written on this pen in the gold in photo 3. I have researched the web to try to ascertain what it says to no avail. Can anyone read it and interpret it for me?

I have a Japanese friend. I will show her the pictures and see if she can read it. Give me a day or two though.

So this writing is an ancient style, the kind you would find on old historical papers.

There are 6 letters, or symbols here. She was only able to surely read 3. 2 should had a pretty good idea of, and 1 she could not understand. So she was unable to make a positive translation.

She thinks the meaning is something like "Thinking of _______ a way of thinking".

Sorry I could not get it exact for you.

I haven't inked it yet and am not sure I will. I need to do some research prior to doing so.

I just discovered that I didn't include the photographs each side of the pen. Only two of them. I will try to get the missing ones up for those who would like to see the complete work.

I believe I may have found the poem on this pen.

皇太后宮大夫俊成

世の中よ
道こそなけれ
思ひ入る
山のおくにも
鹿ぞ鳴くなる

Kotaigogu no Daibu Toshinari

Yo no naka yo
Michi koso nakere
Omoi iru
Yama no oku ni mo
Shika zo naku naru

Fujiwara no Toshinari

English Translation:

From this world I think
That there is nowhere to escape.
I wanted to hide
In the mountains' farthest depths;
But there I hear the stag's cry.

I also found the 100 Poems of 100 Poets.
