Lee Westwood - CODE

Lee recently posted a pic of him and his new wife Helen and he is now wearing a grey CODE, rather than one of his ROOs or Concepts. Interesting times...

The Code is a slow burn, but really think it will become a hit. So much nicer in the flesh than in pictures.

It won’t hit the highs of sports watches, but will do well.

Grey code? You mean the one with rose gold mid case? Interesting times.

Have a link to the photo by any chance ?

Some of them are really growing on me, not to the point that I see myself ever owning one, but certainly there are some that appeal.

I can't ever recall Lee wearing anything other than ROO/Concepts, I've don't ever remember him wearing a RO of any sort, so to be wearing a Code is rather interesting.

I wonder if sponsors dictate what you have to wear?

Not to my knowledge. I've never been aware of any concerted effort by AP's ambassadors to promote anything specific. The only time that I recall there ever being a group of players all wearing the same watch was the 'Dream Team' watch from 2016, and that wasn't for sale.

I really like the case design. I can't take to the chronograph dials though, no matter how many times I look at them. I can't seem to tell the time very easily on them which is a bit of a problem!
Can see myself buying a 3 handed model at some point though.

I fell in love with the Code 1159 instantly when the sunburst dial were released. The dial lacquer quality is really impressive, the double curved crystal is amazing. The code 1159 feels more like an art piece to me. Oh, and it's so versatile- leather strap for formal and canvas strap for casual day to day use.
I'm believe this lineup will be in hot demand in the not too far future.

What about the time that Thor wore an AP ROC as an attempt to get out of his Tag contract?

Thanks! Does look like the grey / rose gold variant. Interesting as I've always thought this was more a feminine watch.

I could be tempted by the Perpetual Calendar. It’s just a touch too big for me, but haven’t yet ruled it out.

Loving the CODE recently and don't see why people have a hard time understanding why someone might enjoy it?

Lee has his choice of anything, cost isn't a factor and nor is appreciation/depreciation, thus it's really nice to see him choose something that he wants to wear. If only we all bought watches we actually wanted...

I guarantee that if the Code was impossible to get and instantly traded at twice retail then everyone would love it, just as we've seen with the 15202, which was left sitting on shelves for years just a short while ago.

I mean, Lee is sponsored by AP & AP Golf, isn't he?

He can get anything he wants. Probably only pays for the really big requests he has. Everything else just gets on his wrist magically.

That's right! I still don't get the 15202 hype though, I can't live without second hands 😅

SO SO SO much better in person! Def appreciate the watch a lot more when it's on your wrist.

Slow burn indeed.
