Incoming—Downsized beauty!

About 4 years ago I visited my first A. Lange & Söhne boutique in Tokyo. I was stunned by the beauty of the watches compared to everything I had been looking at (and in Tokyo, that is every brand in existence). The dials were perfect, but the thing I liked the most was the proportions.

My small wrists have grown tired of big watches, and Lange presents incredible options under 40mm. So much so that when I put on the 35mm Saxonia, I was shocked at how perfect it fit my wrist…and my desire to downsize. 4 years ago, I wasn’t prepared to buy it on my impromptu visit to the boutique. Fast forward to last week; although I don’t live anywhere next to a boutique, Lange allows you to purchase by phone, so I made the call.

The small Saxonia fits like a glove. I love connecting with the watch by manually winding the movement. I am also thrilled this is my first precious metal watch, yet seems to wear well with almost anything. This is my proud beginning of seeking out smaller watches that better fit my wrist, and my personality. It also adds diversity to my collection, finally adding elegant time pieces to a sporty collection. Here are a few shots of this wonderful incoming, cheers!

That's truly a beautiful watch. Congrats!

I wonder if 35mm would seem too small for me at 35mm. The previous Saxonia was 38mm if I recall.

I have tried on the Saxonia Thin and 3 of the Patek 5196 variants. Those all seem ideal for me at 37mm. Perfect.

What is your wrist size if you don't mind me asking?

I have been in contact with my local dealers here for both a 5196, and a Tiffany dial 5196 if one becomes available. Unfortunately, those are a bit of a wait these days as well. I’m a little concerned about the lug width anyway…my wrist is right around 6.25 inches. I hope to at least try one on soon to see how it fits.

Lange lugs appear to work better with me, even on their 37-38mm ranges.
