Icon17 Visited my AD today

Not sure where to post this, so I post it in both the Rolex and the Patek sub-forums. Hope you don't mind

As some of you might know I have for some time contemplated either an AG Rolex or a Patek. (I currently have a SS GMT IIc)

Well, I visited my AD in Oslo which happens to be both a Rolex and a Patek AD

Allways very nice service there.

I told the lady I was interested in the following pices:
YG GMT IIc
RG Daytona
RG Day-Date
Nautilus 5712 (with and without strap)

She didn't have them all at the moment, but she presented me with the following (Sorry for the picture quality, it's from my iPhone 4 and I didn't want to make too much fuss while taking pictures at the AD)

YG GMT IIc:
I really tried to get the "gold feeling", but it just isn't for me I guess. Don't get me wrong: I love the watch holding it in my hand, but on my wirts it almost looked "tacky"
Price: About 230.000,- NOK

WG Daytona:
I was expecting to love the RG, version, but the WG did nothing for me.
Price: 246.200,- NOK

5712A:
Very light compared to even my SS Rolex, very slim and comfortable on the wrist. Maybe å little less wrist presence than the other Pateks i tried. Lovely dial!
Price: 231.800,- NOK

5712G:
Both more wrist presence and more of a dress-watch than the 5712A. I really loved it. Might be even better in RG.
Price: 297.900,- NOK

5980A:
Much thicker than the 5712. About same wristpresence as the 5712G, but substancially more than the 5712A. The crystal seems a bit small for the case
Price: About 300.000,- NOK (unsure)

5980R:
More wrist presence than all the others. It really stands out (which can be good or bad of course). Very sporty even on a strap. Steep pricepoint.
Price: 408.000,- NOK

It really surprised me that they had that many Patek models available, and no waiting list on the 5712R either.

What surpriced me even more was that they didn't have ANY Day-Date II. They vere sould out

They all look pretty damn good on your wrist (even with the dodgy pics).
The 5980R would be my pick (if I had the cash that is).

Great pics and selection!

That would be a tough choice for me.

If you had a little time to wait, the 5726/1 will be out in Fall, and might be a nice combo.

I guess you need to decide strap or bracelet and RG or Stainless.

I agree that the Rolex would be out of this equation.

Let us know what you decided.

Nice PICs, tough choice but good luck with your decision.

Hopefully you can find the others your considering before you make a decision.

The 116718 doesn't look tacky at all! It's the perfect complement to the 116710.

Lovely choices indeed! You have tried a great selection (I agree with others though, the gold GMT doesn't look tacky at all on you)!

Now for the Patek selection, they all look wonderful but I have a personal preference for the 5712's! I'm glad to know you tried two of them and wish you to have the rose gold version on your wrist someday (please do take pictures when you do, I'm sure it will be well worth it).

Thank you all for your comments. Maybe wearing YG just takes some getting used to.

I'm leaning towards the 5712 though, strap or bracelet.

You are lucky to be able to try out so many stunning watches concurrently. I tried out two PP recently as well. 5726 and 5980 both ss. Its very hard to decide among 5712, 5726 and 5980 for me too. But my vote goes to 5712 ss. However, AD old me they havent seemed one for few months. Most people are probably waiting for 5726/1A and white dial these days. Feel so unusual to see 5980 and 5726 on display almost everywhere lately.

Yes, I was surprised they had so many models awailable. I asked for the 5712R, but they didn't expect it in before late autumn. However, no waitinglist for it.

Great choices! You already own a GMT IIC. I would mix things up and get any of the PPs. The 5712A would make a nice mate to your Rolex......Good luck and let us know which one you selected!

All the Patek Nautilus watches are looking good on your wrist Bärd. I prefer it with the bracelet (I mostly prefer bracelets over straps)

Not considering the price, 5980R would be it. Stunning is the only word.

P.S. If it's on a matching bracelet (maybe next year's release), it would be even better, but that would also mean an "nicer" price tag
