DD40 with Silver Stripe Motif dial

Just picked this DD40, ref. 228239, up from my AD that ordered it for me.
The Silver Strip Motif dial reminds of the tapestry dial from the Datejust.
I think the size and proportions of the new Day Date 40 are perfect.

Was never really a fan of diamond bezel over the fluted bezel, but the baguette bezel on d 228398TBR is something to behold!!

Not typically a fan of diamonds on men's watches but in your case, I'll make an exception. ;) It looks great.

Lackluster? For me the best new Rolex dials in years...Love the diagonal motifs--super creative, modern and still classic! Kudos to Rolex for not putting out same old dials!

I just dislike stick dials, love the romans and I don't see a black roman, the diamonds look like sticks...I guess maybe its got to grow on me.

Got it and I would expect plenty of new dials that will please every taste over the years to come knowing Rolex.

Agree Ken, wasn't sure about them but on trying on they are wonderful. Also liking the stick numerals more but still prefer the classic roman on dd2s.

I find that the baguette diamond bezel look much more masculine than the more common brilliant diamond bezel.

My local AD invited me to see new stock DD40
After endless conversations, surprisingly i still prefer the big daddy DDII platinum
Bad news for me the number of DDII is running out in London. In fact, my AD has 1 plat DDII left

I tried this one on yesterday at my AD, the dial is really amazing. It almost resulted in an impulse buy.

I prefer the chocolate dial of the DD II, but the size and proportion of the DD 40. Too bad they could not be combined.
