Hi All,

I noticed that on the bezel at the 3 o'clock position, or what would be the 15 minute marker, the matte/ brushed piece isn't consistent and looks like it was slightly polished (it is the marker on the right hand side closest to the crown). My question is, would a bergeon brush be able to get this out or would it create a brushed look that is not consistent with the other markers on the bezel? Can a watchmaker easily fix this or how would you go about fixing this? I know it is a minor flaw but if it is an easy fix I would like to fix it.

I think it could be just dirt.

If the bezel is ceramic, the silvery inlay is actually a thin layer of platinum. If it were my watch, I would not attempt any sort of repair but instead take it to the Rolex Service Center in Beverley Hills (I see you are in Los Angeles) for an examination and possible repair estimate. Hopefully, it is just some type of substance on the surface and can be professionally cleaned away. Be seated, however, if Rolex suggests replacing the bezel insert; it might be costly.

I have always had a pleasant experience and great service at the BHRSC. Good luck.

The platinum coating to the markers is very similar to a PVD coating so do not brush try and give it a watch with soap and water.

No, it is a beadblast type finish/not brushed that is not possible to replicate by hand...bummer, I know.
