1016 for me.

Where are we at count-wise? Should have made a poll of this...

It's actually REALLY close. Here's the tally so far:
  • 5513: 12
  • 1016: 11

1016 is timeless, understated, and sophisticated. Gets my vote.

5513. Didn't Steve McQueen wear one? He was the King of Cool, after all.
I'm wanting a vintage Sub. I do like the 1016 but if I had to choose it'd be the 5513.

I think their are fewer 1016s...that's my choice.

(...and "BOTH" is not an option although obviously ideal!)

What most (if not all) of us know:
  • Both are time-only references.
  • Similar price points (assuming similar condition and no exceptional traits like rare dial configurations).
  • Both are iconic.

Happy Friday all.

1016 all day long - very nearly the perfect watch. (I would prefer the coronet at the 12 o'clock position like the Japanese edition of the 116000).

5513 v. 1016

This is tough, I've been a Sub/GMT guy for a few years now and my 5513 is the jewel of my collection, but I recently aquired a modified OP "blue explorer" and I'm now smitten with the 36mm case and super legible dial. I think a 1016 is next on my list to round out the iconic trio 5513/1675/1016. As for which one I'd choose, for the moment it's still 5513 but it may well start to tip toward the explorer soon.

1016 for the simple reason it's about 10 times cooler than the 5513!
