Neil Peart Dead at 67

Wow, didn't even know he was sick. Rush was one of my favorites ever since a friend turned me onto 2112.

Peart, who joined Rush in 1974, died after a lengthy battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer, in Southern California on Jan. 7, 2020. He was 67.

Ah, I just woke up. Maybe I'm not awake after all.

Sad. He was a proper WIS guy too. Some
Good videos have been posted here of him talking through his collection. Very refined watches.

Yep, you've been asleep. I think we even had a thread here about it, but maybe that was another forum, I can't remember.

Great drummer and he's missed. I remember hearing the live version of YYZ (from Exit Stage Left) as a kid and I was blown away.

Dude, where you been? Yeah, a real loss to the world. In addition to a legendary musician and drummer, he was a great human being.

Don't be so negative, Neil Peart was a legendary musician and a great human being. Whether it was today or even last year he is certainly worth remembering.

Dan, you must have been polishing your boots and missed the news.
Neil was the best, RIP.

I guess I forgot. There have been quite a few deaths of a number of individuals I grew up with lately. I guess I lost track or maybe I'm just getting old. Either way the more it happens it hasn't been getting any easier or any better.

I read the Rolling Stone article on Neil last night. Got something in my eye, too.

I've played drums for a few years - and I've tried to match him on 'YYZ' and 'La Villa Strangiato' and let me say I'm a newborn baby when it comes to his skill level.

Seriously, if you can play 'La Villa Strangitato' on drums...you can play anything.
That song is exhausting.

Peart will always be The Professor.

Excellent writer in addition to EVERYTHING else.

I enjoyed "The Masked Rider", "Ghost Rider" (tough read), "Traveling Music".

In "Ghost Rider", he would end each day with a measure of The Macallan. I was, at the time, in the middle of a 22 year period of abstinence from alcohol. When I returned to the nobel spirit, I went straight to The Macallan.

He did not steer me wrong!

Yes, I saw that. But have to say I was never as big of a Van Halen as I was of Rush. I bought and listened to Van Halen's first album but never bought any others after that. Learned much more about Eddie after his death than I was aware of prior.
