You sir are a truly great person and an inspiration.

I’ll never forget the note you sent me when I needed it most.

This thread along with others, and the input you have, show you to truly be a great human being. Something I personally believe the world is severely lacking.

Thank you for your thoughtfulness and your insight and your effort.

Great to see this thread still going.

At this time of year, we donate to our local food bank in an attempt to make the holidays better for those in need.

Seth, inspiring someone I hold in as high regard as you is the best compliment I have received in quite some time. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!

Definitely a bit too close to home, the parents of one of the deceased are affiliated with my biking group, though I don't personally know them(1000 members i haven't met them all) lots of parents of children there ride with my group as well. Everyone is pretty upset and shook up around here. Definitely not something you expect ever, much less during the holiday season.

Just a reminder for those who know and a bit of information for those who might not. If you have a charity that you hold especially dear and also shop frequently at Amazon you can link your Amazon account to certain charities by shopping at smile.Amazon.com.

From Amazon’s website: “When you shop at smile.amazon.com, Amazon donates 0.5% of your eligible purchases - at no cost to you.”

Something to keep in mind while shopping this holiday season. Money straight to your charity. .5% might not sound like a lot but if enough shoppers do it it can really add up.

Yeah, you can even choose your kids' school as the charity, which is what I do.

Just a quick bump with a great story and bringing a cause that’s dear to me up. Will make the donations and pick those to be pledged by the new year.

Breast cancer runs in my family, and from posts I've read, I am fairly certain it has affected some TRF members' families, too. A non-profit organization that my husband and I support is the Young Survival Coaliton (https://www.youngsurvival.org/). My husband has done the West Coast bike ride for several years, to raise money for YSC.

Another cause that's dear to my heart is the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (https://pedaids.org/).

Thank you for the well wishes.

And please excuse my oversight for not commenting on how wonderful all of the things you do are. I was, and still am, a bit distracted as my brother-in-law just had emergency open heart surgery and my niece has gone into multiple organ failure as a result of some wild bacterial infection. Sigh...

Kat, no apologies needed. I actually prefer those sort of comments were left out. This thread is about the charities and causes that get brought to the charitable members of this forums sight, potentially helping the cause and inspiring good small deeds amongst our community. It’s not about me at all, I’m just the one banging the drum.

Will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers!!

A huge and heartfelt thank you to Goat, for donating to the DAV. It is refreshing to find giving and caring people in the world during these stressful times.

This is a great thread and I'm sure everyone appreciates your kindness. For me, it opened my eyes and made me realize I could and should do more....I therefore have done some things I may not have done otherwise.

Joel, at it again I see ….

Thank you for your very generous and kind donation to the Meals on Wheels food bank. I love supporting organizations that make a difference right in your own backyard.

I'm grateful to tell that I have been pledged again this year by our own Mr. Goat.
Joel is making a difference in people's lives, just as the chosen charities do.
Thank you again.
