I've noticeably suffered from it since '94, when one particular range evolution left me half-deaf for several days. Infantry Marine, when hearing protection consisted of wearing one earplug so you could still hear & communicate.

I also occasionally suffer from a temporary total loss of hearing in my right ear, which is an incredibly bizarre experience that also affects my equilibrium.

The tinnitus itself is ever present, but usually drowned out by the voices in my head.
