"dark brown lace-up boots that are timeless in style and are durable"

Red Wing Iron Rangers, not in the stratosphere in terms of pricing when compared to some of the suggestions here, but solid, stylish, durable, and extremely comfortable once broken in. Wolverine 1000 milers are another boot in this class that seem to be extremely popular, but I've never owned a pair.

Got a couple: Red Wing, iron rangers in the colour amber.
Crockett & Jones, Coniston, in dark brown Scotch country grain.
Crockett & Jones, Molton, dark brown rough-out suede (007 boots from No Time to Die).

Might end up with another pair of C&J (I also own the pembroke), and want the Edward Green Galway in rosewood and a bespoke EG Dover on my own last.

C&J Molton paired with Momotaro Japanese denim.

Great choices and great wish list. If you could somehow manage getting an Edward Green Galway in Zug you would get the same look but much better inclement weather leather.

By the way, I forgot to mention Edward Green refers to zug as heather gross.

The only problem with mine is the Dainite sole is treacherous on slush, ice and wet floors. They are a no go for me in bad weather along with all of my Dainite.

I have some AE Higgins Mill that are much safer on bad surfaces with a soft rubber compound Vibram sole.

I am also trying some Thursday Legend Chelseas this week to see if their lug sole works well in winter.

Love the Coniston but the 325 last is not for my freaky feet.

These actually have the Ridgeway sole which is much better than the Dainite sole.

Agree, I have dainite on my summer boots and ridgeway on my winter boots, except one pair with a commando sole.

Wish they made ridgeway on the 82 last.
