Well, i think that a grey dealer has more opportunities to do some money laundering with watches then an official one. Can you resist the temptation? I think it is easy to do so and if you have done it once, well, twice becomes next most of the times.

Not saying they did, but i could understand what they mean with money laundering.

This reads to me like the NCA suspect that criminals are getting the dealer to sell the watches for them, watches that they can’t prove they bought with legitimate means. Obviously getting a bank transfer from a watch dealer helps cleanse the money.

If the dealer was selling a watch on my behalf and I proved I bought that watch at say WOS 3 years ago with a credit card or bank transfer, and I can prove my job and income means I could afford said watch, I should get my watch back no problem.

Interesting to see where this goes.

Where would they buy the watch from before having it to sell?

Maybe buying and selling the same watch a few times from the same place?

I'm looking forward to tonites Youtube video to see how they explain this one!

Must be very embarrassing and tarnish your reputation.

Bit of news coverage seems to get the search engines and algos doing their thing. Funny that the press articles start linking into this one which potentially has a familiar face in it from some of their YouTube videos. Hmm.

I’ve been asking them in the comments if they can explain what is going on. The comments are getting deleted in minutes. Red flags everywhere with these guys. Seem to be carrying on like normal with no explanation. Grey dealers live and die on their reputations and it seems they are trying to front it out. My biggest worry is those people that have left their watches with them on consignment. There is no way in the world I would be doing that with anyone now, certainly will not deal with this lot.

Yes I noticed the comments being deleted, I thought it was my eyes playing up.

They are doing their reputation no good by hiding from it.

Surprised the other watch Youtubers are all quiet, especially Paul Thorpe ?

I don’t think this adds much to previous articles but looks like this could rumble on for a while.

Well it will as long as they keep pumping out videos as if nothing is happening.

Just announced by Paul Thorpe that he is visiting Newcastle 1st April, to do a Watch peoples get together.

Some comments from him about this Watchtrader story on his announcement.

So... Auction houses... discuss.

Can’t see his comments. What platform did he use?

I did a quick google search for it and it just brought up even more stuff on Reddit - people have been doing some digging and what’s being dug up does not look good.

I second this. Very interested into what people's thoughts are as Watchtrader are quickly deleting comments and obviously trying to silence people.

Nice to see an "established" grey being so quiet about a well known story that they have to keep deleting any comment that touches on THE NCA investigation. Buyers and sellers/consigners have the right to know what kind of people they are dealing with before making a decision!

Such a SHAME for them to behave this way!

I was reminded of this thread by one at the weekend asking for suggestions on U.K. dealers where the link to this one was posted. I wondered what ever happened as it did go very quiet as Rickkk suggested it might. Thought I’d have a quick look at their accounts. But…

https://find-and-update.company-info...filing-history

So their 31 August 22 accounts would have been due by 31 May 23.
On 11 May 23, they extend the period to 31 October 22. So their accounts are now due by 31 July 23.
On 27 July 23, they shorten their period by 1 day to 30 October 22 which automatically gives them three months from notification.
So they now have until 27 October 23 to file.

It doesn’t make it very easy to figure out what’s going on with them. A sceptic might think they really really don’t want to publish a set of accounts.
