RSC or Independent?
Hi, I haven't been on this forum in quite awhile, boy has it changed! My 2012 never serviced, Submariner needs servicing, as its running far behind now.
So my question is; What are some good independents that are still doing a great job on the East Coast? I hate the thought of shipping my watch out. I'm in NJ/NYC. I've been to the RSC in NYC but not since 2012. I've read most of the "stories" on this forum so Im reluctant unless that has changed or gotten better? But outside of that option what are the pro's and cons of using either or, and who do you guys now recommend as far as independents go? |

I’ve always had an independent jeweler in Fargo who sells many brands of high-end watches do my service. They used to be a Rolex AD but gave up the relationship many years ago. Their watchmakers can work on almost anything.

I’ve had two watches serviced in NY. Next year, they will get my 116119LB. My only suggestion would be to deal with them directly. Either drop it off or mail it in yourself.
When it comes to cosmetics, be very clear about what you want or don’t want done. You should have no issues.

I too have had a couple done by NYC RSC and very pleased. Had to mail them in - all instructions were followed. If I lived close enough to drop one by the counter, and I was concerned about instructions, I’d bring it in myself. Then you get to ask, “What words do I put in these instructions to be sure the watchmaker does…_______” or “doesn’t”. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

thanks everyone! I used to see Rik and Vanessa recommended a lot back when. Are their services still being used and feedback on this forum?
I used RSC for a very old Rolex once and I was pleased with the outcome. |

I haven't seen anything from Rik since 2020 and his page doesn't seem to have any updated content. I need a ding fixed and I am not sure if I should go with Rolliworks, Zimmerman watch repair or Los Angeles Watch Works

Rik seems to still be in business. http://timecareinc.com/
Vanessa, I’m not so sure. Not to hijack but hey Carlos, hope all is well.

Rik worked on my GMTIIC a few months ago. Give him a call and discuss your needs.
