Antique Clock Give Away!!!!!

Well TRFers, it’s that time of quarter/month/year/ whenever I feel like it. Yep, I am thinning out my collection (I still have a long way to go ) and thought some lucky TRF member would enjoy this one. The serial number points it to a 1940 manufacture. It is (obviously) a bedside alarm clock and is interesting for one fact. GE purchased 49% of the Telechron clock company in 1919. For many years, the dials would say: “GE-Telechron” Or just “Telechron.” Eventually, they started showing both “General Electric” and “Telechron” one on the top of the dial the other at the bottom, and by (around) 1954 or 55, Telechron was dropped and all clocks were: General Electric. There are exceptions, this is not a hard and fast rule, but generally that was the evolution of the name that appeared on the dial. This one is interesting as it is the earliest one I have ever seen that showed only the “General Electric” on the dial. Valuable? Not really, maybe $30 or $40, but it is pretty cool. I restored it less then a year ago, the alarm works perfectly as does the movement, keeping excellent time. FULL DISCLOSURE - The clock is not 100% accurate. I had to install a cord from late 50s/early 60s. There seems to be a shortage right now of 1930s cloth cords, hopefully not a permanent situation.

So, do qualify for this, simply post in this thread, jokes and compliments of TheVTCGuy are welcome . This weekend, at exactly 14.32 GMT (Or whenever I feel like it) I will pick a winner from random number generator. The only thing I ask is the winner posts a picture in their home (and if international, please be ready to pay for shipping).

Good Luck to all

Nice gesture on your part again Paul.

I don't know why everyone says that you're a dorkelhead..

And PLEASE EXCLUDE me from your drawing.

I already have enough clocks. LOL!

Looks really cool Paul. Count me in. I'd love to put it on my home office desk and would look at it often for sure

Here's a bit of a story. During my zoom meetings I have a hard time seeing the time. When I'm sharing my screen on the laptop and using the laptop camera I have to look over to the external monitor to see the time in the upper right but it's darkened because I'm on the other monitor...the laptop monitor. So then I have to move the mouse over to that screen and click somewhere on it to brighten the screen and see the time. I know it sounds strange and even seems weird to me as a write this, that I do it every time. I always have a watch on but sometimes the sleeve is covered or else I forget to look there, I'm not sure why I don't just look there. I never really thought about it too much. And I'm sure are many ways to make this easier for me and I think I've been muttering to myself about getting some type of clock for the desk but being a man of mental blocks and forgetfulness that I can weirdly sometimes be about some things, that's just the way that it goes. And now that I give pause to this, I am now realizing I have been mulling this around for a couple of years now. Weird.

Anyway, we'll, let's hope I get lucky, because now that I've talked about this and brought it out into the light I guess I'll have to do something now either way.

I was right there with you, then I placed a 1933 Telechron "Waldorf" model next to my screen. This thing is a monster! Weighs about 13 pounds, but I can always see the time

I also have a little clock next to my screen to help with time while presenting.

Alas, mine is digital..."shame him!!".

Nice gesture on the clock, Paul! No matter what others say, there are still a FEW nice jet jocks out there.

Nice Jesse! I understand it being digital, you helicopter guys just don’t have the mental capacity to learn how to read an analog clock; I’ll (try and) teach you…someday.

I figured that they would be able to read an analog clock.

It's just like helicopter blades rotating, only slower.......
