Soon a curmudgeon...

Ok I bought my first Rolex a couple of months back..an M-serial 16610 from Davidsw. I was happy with the watch but I wanted another Rolex...

Fast forward a few weeks and I agreed with my grandmother that with the savings of the small amounts of money she always wants to give me over the years I am buying a nice watch to keep forever (I'll add some funds of course). I live with her and to me she is like my mother...she's a real sweetheart...

After many long hours of deliberation I decided on a 14060M COSC as my lifetime watch. I felt it was perfect for my very active lifestyle (diving, swimming, training, biking etc..). That, the classic looks and knowing that it can be serviced for a long time sealed the deal for me ...

So as we speak I have a 14060M inbound from the US to me ...this is a seller's picture..

At first I wanted a new one to have my name on the card but i thought it would not be worth the premium for me, since I intend to use it 100% as intended. It is a mint Z-serial bought new in 2008. It can't get here soon enough! What is the difference in font between this and say a latest random serial? Any changes or improvements?

In the meantime I sent Davidsw my 16610 back (with my best friend who is spening a month in the USA for his honeymoon) to part exchange for a 116610 SUB-C or 116660 DSSD for weekend duty as I felt that teh 16610 will be too alike to the 14060M in my small collection of 5 watches! I really feel I will not be needing another watch any time soon ...

Grats on the watch.
There has been no update like the date version. The latest watch is pretty much the same.

Thanks fellow curmudgeons..I have long been a lug hole loyalist...thanks to such honourable dive watches...

I also opted for COSC for it's 'KING OF COOL' connection..if it was good enough for him it should be fine for the likes of me ...

Be careful with extreme biking... It is not really "hard shock proof"!

hehe...thanks...is it now time to kneel or something ?

Where do I collect my Global Assoc. of Retro-Grouch-Curmudgeons Card ?

I hope that in a few years time I'll be enjoying the rattle of the by then loose end links on the 14060M. I can still vividly remember the sound on my beaten up uncle's SKX009 president bracelet endlinks (he's a contract PRO diver) on his wrist when I was still around 6 years old..yes I've been a WIS for as long as I can remember ...

Membership is quite easy. It takes time, dedication, and extreme effort to get an ID number.

Ahh, but you don't know what horrible things you have to do to modernistas to earn a Double-O prefix like mine...
