Nice. I enjoy Blanton’s. My friends in Europe make fun of me because I always return to the US with a couple bottles of Blanton’s Gold/straight from the barrel/OSB. Availability is better there than here, ha.

Last trip I only found one bottle of Blanton’s gold, but duty free at CDG made up for it: 2 bottles of Hakushu 18 for $320 each.

I saw one yesterday as well.

Folks are busy chasing down remnants of BTAC or VW to care.

Disappointed I’ll most likely be missing out on High West & The Prisoner - The Prisoner’s Share limited offering.

Only a few bottles came to NJ and they want 450+ for them. taking a stand on the price gouging.

Though I did score some Elmer T. Lee yesterday at retail, so that’s a plus.

They are easier to carry this way since they come 3 to a box. The Luca Mariano is probably unknown here.

More than a few watch collectors get to the point where they have a dozen or more watches and tend to only wear the favorites while the others sit unworn. This leads some to consider thinning the herd.

I've somehow ended up with about 20 different whiskeys and definitely have my favorites. If I don't like a watch and don't wear it, I sell. I have given away or at times dumped a bottle down the drain if it isn't at least something I'd pour for a guest.

Does anyone ever get the urge to pare it down to 4 or 5 (or ten) bottles...maybe a high dollar bottle, a few moderate bottles you love and a beater bottle or two for guests who insist on mixing it with Coke?

I can't say I'm looking to cut way down but don't want to exceed the current shelf space with room still for a few rums, gin, vodka and tequila for variety. My bar is in my basement so as a starter I've been moving any bottle near empty upstairs and finishing it off to free up space...sort of a one in/one out strategy.

I just scored a Birthday Bourbon and two bottles of double barrel Jack. Can't wait to crack them open.

Scotch: Glenmorangie 18 or the Signet.
Bourbon: I pretty much have them all but typically drink lazy Old Fashions with Knob Creek 12.

I hear ya. I’ve slowed down on buying and am committed to drinking down my stash. I just make cocktails with the booze I don’t love neat. I’ve had some upper end booze I didn’t care for on it’s own but made a great cocktail.

Indeed...

I want the Heavy Char Rye.

Haven't felt like ponying up the secondary for it.

I'm much more a Bourbon guy than a Scotch drinker and only have two on the shelf vs dozens, but I do like this with a splash or two of water and enough that I bought it again as one of the two. The first, actually a later batch, was closer to 60 APV. Will have some with a movie tonight (but it won't be animated).

Aberlour A'bunadh Alba, Batch 001, about 57 APV.

Absolutely.

What I do with it depends on the bottle though.

With stuff that’s more rare or expensive, I’ll keep it for guests. Readily available stuff I’ll drink through. Only one I ever dumped was a handle of Dewars.

At this point I know what I like but still open to trying something new/different/rare.
