Civil War, the movie.

Just a heads-up if you are contemplating a night at the movies to watch Civil War. I saw it the other night and I have to rate it terrible - the worst movie that I have seen in decades.

The first hour and 40 minutes follow some reporters trying to make their way to Washington, D.C. to interview the President. Along the way, a few detours are thrown their way by the resistance but the travelers eventually make their way to WDC where they witness a 10 minute battle between the Western Forces against the loyal military forces and U.S. Secret Service agents. The movie ends inside the white House and not everyone lives happily after.

Just a terrible, lame movie. You've been warned!!!

Sorry you didn’t enjoy the film.

I think this review covers the film and common misperceptions about it: https://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/c...ie-review-2024

"...reminiscent of classic movies about Western journalists covering the collapse of foreign countries, such as "The Year of Living Dangerously," "Salvador," "Under Fire," and "Welcome to Sarajevo." ..."

Hmm, those first three influenced my career path to journalism in the 1980s-90s so might have to give it a go.

I studied history

Our history of killing each other because of ideology is vast, our generation of overseas wars, or specifically taking war to our enemies in their countries, will numb people to the reality of conflict. Maybe this will help open people’s eyes to possible outcomes. But to each their own

Fun fact: over a million of the 22 million people in the US in 1860 died from our civil war. Mostly upper class productive males. The cost was massive.

I’m going to see it….generally speaking, I tend to agree with critics on movies, as they tend to be more knowledgeable/ insightful re: what they’re seeing, know what DRIVE movie directors as to their choices in creating the final product, discern what the themes are, know what the director is trying to say/ do and see many more movies than the average consumer.

I SAW Director Garland’s two excellent sci- fi films, the prescient “ Ex Machina” and the mind blower “ Annhilation.” If “ Civil War” even approaches those two films, it should be good.

Lot of infection deaths as well. Not a great time and place to be wounded.

Based on reviews I get the feeling I’m going to like it. Will have to see. Probably wait until it hits on demand.

Wow, this is a nice piece of journalism. I don't generally read film reviews, but this was captivating. I may have to see it just from this review. I liked Plemmons' acting in Breaking Bad, Black Mass & American Made.

I had planned to see this. My local theater has $5 Tuesdays for all showings so I go to the movies once or twice a month but in the trailer when they showed Texas allied with California they lost me.

Maybe I’ll try it for free at home some day.
