I am a HUGE Blanton’s fan but it is as rare as hen’s teeth now.
A very good substitute is Noah’s Mill. It runs around $60 here and many stores have at least a bottle or two.

EC Barrel proof is a very good one, released 3 times a year.
Blanton's is always good, especially at MSRP. Old Forester Statesman or for higher proof, 1920 Prohibition style- both are really good and should be readily available. Noah's Mill is another good option. All of the above are in your price range. There are many more but unfortunately very hard to find- E H Taylor, Maker's mark wood finish series, Elmer T Lee, Weller 12 yr or Antique 107, etc. |

I regularly buy alcohol to think others for referrals. I typically try to find out what kind of swill they like and then either buy that or a more unusual version.
For example, if the person likes bourbon, I go to a well-stocked liquor store I trust and I ask if they have any allocated bottles (limited number of bottles to each store) or tell the shop what the person likes and what they'd recommend based on the preference. I don't remember what i've purchased in the past but i've had several people let me know they really liked the bottle I gave. On the other hand, the last time i did it, the guy's assistant told me he loves Bud Light so that's what he got... This doesn't really help. What i'd go with depends on what you can get where you are. |

I will probably go this afternoon, I just got off a graveyard shift... It appears there are a lot of good choices here in town. Having state run liquor stores, all of the prices are strictly regulated and they are all the same across the state. They have a website that tracks the inventory of all of the stores so that i can search and find out who has what.. pretty convenient really.

Where is a good place to buy Blanton’s online? I scored one locally at retail but unlikely to keep the streak alive.

Lots of great suggestions. I think Makers is too common and most of the ones mentioned above would be a better choice. I drink my bourbon with a Diet Coke so what do I know lol....

Interesting, I think there is plenty of Blanton's on the shelf of my local place, but it's been a while since I have been in. I'll need to check. I don't usually splurge for it though anyway. I go with my staple which is Even Willams Single Barrel... it's $22, well $23, it's gone up... A decent aged (up to 10 years?) single barrel for the price in my opinion.

Being from Louisville, I can help. Personally, think Blanton’s is overrated unless you find a store pick. It’s single barrel so there’s some variance.
Try Eagle Rare, it’s out of Buffalo Trace and still has its 10 year age statement. Getting harder to come by but easier than some of the others. |
