How many case materials do you have in your collection?
After picking up a Panerai Bronzo, i started counting the number of different case materials in my collection - 7
Represented: Bronze - PAM968 Titanium - ROO Plat - 5905P WG - 5524G RG - 5712R SS - 5711 Ceramic - PAM1441 Missing - YG, carbon, plastic I didn't plan this but there must be something in my mind that looks for different metals. Are there more than 10? Anyone have all 10 (or more)? Just for Friday fun. |

You are missing tantalum in your list, Panerai made a couple of tantalum watches.

All nine in SS.
I've owned titanium in the past. I have no desire for gold, platinum, bronze or plastic. Sent using Tapatalk |

Just ti and steel. I’ve never kept a gold watch more than a month. They don’t stick for me. I truly see the appeal it’s just not for me in terms of comfort on wrist.

I lack 18k WG, hope to combine it with Meteorite, and will thus likely suffer for far to long...
Even the trusted sellers seldom offer an option! |

Not yet … but likely.
Wore it for about a week and didn’t bond with it. I’m giving it some time, will revisit before I decide.

Looking at the Panerai website, they have show:
BMG-Tech (some metallic glass) Composite (synthetic ceramic) Plus the Tantalum (which sounds like a great case material from researching it; anyone post a good photo of it). Cases by my count: Patek 5 (Plat, RG, YG, WG, SS) Rolex 6 (Plat, RG, YG, WG, SS, Ti) AP 7 (Plat, RG YG, WG, SS, Ti, Ceramic) Panerai 11 (Plat, RG, YG, WG, SS, Carbon, Ti, Ceramic, BMG, Composite, Tantalum) Casio 4 (SS, Resin, Carbon, Ti) Then RM ugh ~8 (RG, WG, sapphire, 2 Carbons, Ceramic, Ti, Grade 5 Ti (composite)????) + many combos of the above That gets me to 15 unique case materials (perhaps a little off with RM). What am i missing or what is wrong with the above? Other manufacturers have other materials? |

Definitely an excellent question. I have always been of the opinion that my collect should have some variety and not be a bunch of SS sport watches because they are popular and there was a time long ago that SS was all that was talked about on the Forum. Seemed the name should have been the SS Rolex Watch Forum, but that has changed with much more attention on PM pieces such as Day-Dates and PM Daytonas.
I am currently selling off half of my collection because they are either SS (4) or Sport (1) models and will most likely add a PM piece for some diversity. The only thing that I do not know at this time is whether is will be a PM sport model or more of a traditional model like a Day-Date. In any event, I believe variety is key and should also include brands other than Rolex. |
