Most over-rated over-played rock bands of all time

I've been a music lover most of my life (ever since I was 10 or so). I love all different kinds of music (rock, country, pop, oldies, etc.). However, when I hear these bands come on the radio, I immediately turn the dial! Way over-played!

1. Led Zeppelin
2. Pink Floyd
3. Pearl Jam (my least favorite band of all time!)
4. The Eagles
5. Fleetwood Mac
6. Bruce Springsteen
7. Imagine by john lennon

Did I leave any off the list?

Too funny, I actually love all of those bands and their music never gets old to me

On a sort of related note, we played a game the other night with playlists on our Sonos where everyone had to pick a song they genuinely like, but they know everyone else doesn’t …

I chose Some Kind of Wonderfull ~ Grand Funk Railroad.

Over-rated - It has to be Kiss.

Overplayed - It's got to be the Beatles

Shut it down, everyone. This guy wins.

The Beatles were great, but it sure would be nice to go 24 hours without having to hear one of their songs on the radio, on TV, in a commercial, being hummed by a co-worker, playing over the PA in a store, etc etc

Precursor to the manufactured boy band.

Well if you feel something was over played perhaps it was because you listened to the same stations all the time.

Turn off the radio.

copied online from an old DJ......

"A CHR or Country formatted station would play about 12 songs per hour during the main 6AM-7PM time period and a few more per hour in late evening and all night. This would average out to about 300 tunes per day. Classic rock and oldies stations might get a few more because of the shorter length of some older songs but the 300 per day would be about right. It should be noted that these are not 300 different songs. In a tightly formatted station the hottest songs may be rotated as soon as every two hours and other important tunes would rotate only a little less frequently. A radio station complete play list including hits, recurrents, power gold and older gold is a lot smaller than you might think. Some stations have a complete playlist of just a few hundred songs. If you are a constant listener to only one music station you may feel the same tunes are playing over and over. That’s because they are. Most people listen to terrestrial radio about an hour a day so stations want to make sure that their hottest hits are available during that hour."

Wow, with all the music to listen too and all the options as to how it can be played, how is it you only listen to stuff you can't stand listening too?

If I'm in the mood for classic rock, give me Bob Seger, George Thorogood, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Dio, Billy Idol, Def Leppard, Jim Croce, David Bowie, the Cars, Journey to name a few. These bands I'm not sick of because they don't get as much air play and they are great! Well Journey does get a lot of airplay but who couldn't love them!

Try a streaming service vs knocking legends of rock, just seems more productive.

With all the options available today I might suggest anyone with this concern find a different channel/station.

I haven't listened to a radio in years. Can't stand the commercials.

Our cars have around 20 playlists with about 100 songs each that we listen to.

38 Special... Hold on loosely? Ugh! Enough - let it go already.
Red Hot Chilly Peppers used to be a fun band but like so many they went pop and got way overplayed.

Anything written by Danny Elfman that doesn't involve the rest of the Oingo Boingo Band.

Lol yes, 38 special is truly gagworthy. And also agree about RHCP, loved them up until after their One Hot Minute LP in '95. Just about everything after that, blah

A friend of mine from back in their heyday used to always referred to Pearl Jam as "butt rock"
