Tag Heuer Calibre 36
If not a Rolex, then a Tag Heuer Calibre 36 as no one will know you are wearing a high end watch. I prefer a chronograph movement and the Zenith el Primero is arguably "the" chronograph movement.
I have two: Tag Heuer Link Calibre 36 has the el Primero 400 movement. I really like how comfortable this watch is to wear. Tag Heuer Carerra Calibre 36 Flyback has the el Primero 405 movement. I just love the look of this watch. |

Zenith, omega, Panerai, IWC - high-mid range
Sinn, stowa, Mnt Blanc - mid range Hamilton (best value), tissot, tag heuer - mid-low range. Tag may be expensive but in my opinion they are at this level. Nothing beats rolex! PP, AP, Jlc, VC if money is not a problem.

My preferences have nothing to do with horology, or quality of movement. I like what I like. I like Seiko automatic divers, the Omega Speedmaster Professional, a vintage Royal Oak and the Calatrava.

Jaeger-LeCoultre for me for the history, prestige and the value. If money is no subject Patek for the craftsmanship and the prestige.

Glashutte Original & ALS for combining art and technology.
Patek & JLC for old school sophistication. Grand Seiko for remarkable quality and its classic Japanese design. |

Zenith El Primero, of course
Still the coolest chrono on earth.
This comes from someone who loves chronos and who happens to own, in the chrono department, three Datographs, one APROC, one Speedy, two Blancpain chronos, one Sinn 103, one Daytona cal. 4130, and a dozen vintage flyback pilot chronos from WWII. |
