Obviously John Denver and the Muppets is the premier Christmas album.

Followed closely by the Chipmunks.

I like it. One of our local radio stations plays it from the day after Thanksgiving til the day after Christmas. I tune in often.....daily in fact.....and love it.

I think too many people have forgotten what Christmas is truly all about and it’s certainly not about Christmas music. I hope I never reach a place in life where I “hate” anything.

It's so funny you say that about John Denver and the Muppets. Ever since my kids were very small - almost 30 years ago, we've listened to this album every year. Something about a great singer like Denver singing with those Muppets. It's magic.

Anyway - if listening to this Patti Smith live version of "O' Holy Night" doesn't tug at your heart strings, nothing will.

Hey! There's supreme beauty in almost all music.

If you don't like it, don't listen. If you're forced to hear it at stores, malls, TV spots or whatever - try to appreciate it. If all else fails, well, impose a 30 day "media-blackout" in your domicile. (Lol)

Seriously, it ain't all bad.

Today at lunch I heard the same song covered by three different artists.

Each was equally rage inducing

I'm kind of with the OP. Not many Christmas songs I like and they keep playing them over and over. They were fine as a kid, but I've heard them enough.

Do as I do. Always take earplugs with you when you go out.

I'm totally serious about this.

They save my sanity many times per week when I go out to shop or dine or just about anything where the poorly socialized gather and merchants insist on blaring music or televisions or what have you.

I have my own playlist of Christmas music that I'm listening to now and frankly, I love it and I do listen to it at times throughout the year, especially the classical pieces.

Now here's a Christmas song that I really DO hate.
"Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas"
Makes me want to say "Have it yourself - don't force your cliched trivialised conception of Christmas on me!"

Wow. That’s a lot of pent up anger Rock.

Technically, they aren’t forcing anything on you. The wording is permissive, not directive. Now, if it said “sit down next to the tree, smile, and be happy”, you would have a point.

Could be worse. It could be “Grandma got run over by a reindeer” everywhere you go.

I usually wear my Bluetooth noise canceling Bose headphones when I go anywhere near crowds. Helps to keep me sane.
From Trombones Under the Tree, featuring the greatest living orchestral trombonist Joe Alessi, who is a terrible putter btw, if anyone ever gets to play golf with him. The Nutcracker Sketches are beautiful but too many to list.

Since this tread is about hate of Christmas Music, I felt that I should post as many Christmas music videos as possible.

Agree with you - and I’d add that it’s too pervasive.

That having been said, now that we have a couple of kids running around the flat, I’ve found myself tuning in one of the only-Christmas music radio stations once we get into December (though I really question who listens to these stations...and there are dozens of them...for the rest of the year!)
