I would say now is a good time. I mean, you are going on 12 years and 14 years. You may already be getting into some slight acid reductions at this point which brings along the nutty undertones. Its an acquired taste in aged reds that you either love or hate. Im not a huge fan myself but thats just me. I prefer bold reds right around 7-10 years so that they still show some light tannins and the acids are still present.
Pop open a bottle and lets us know what you think?

Thanks for the advice. Will open the 04 next weekend if we end up hosting family, if not it’ll have to wait till February, maybe valentines, but will definitely drink sooner rather than later.
Thanks guys!

Trailside is a great Cab, I believe it's been discontinued I just picked up two bottles of 2006 yesterday. Getting harder to come by and as others have said yours are ready to drink ! Enjoy !

For the money Sebastiani AV Cab is very difficult to beat, as you said it's not Cherryblock but doesn't come with the price tag either ! Enjoy !

Went to a wine tasting at small local vinyard. Bought this bottle to enjoy there... They by their grapes from Napa.

Was quite nice a little lighter than I prefer my cabs.

Opened a bottle of Wagner's Red Schooner and it had to be one of the worst bottles I've tasted in recent history. Had a few sips and my two friends agreed it was terrible.

Popped this immediately after and it saved lunch ! Great bottle !

Nice to hear you had a back up bottle just incase something like this was to occur.

Loading up the box for the holiday weekend. Taking a few Pinots for the crab legs and lobster dinner and a lot f reds for the elk filets for Christmas dinner. Very much looking forward to some down time between now and New Years, although I do have to work a few days.

Just printed up the menu for the tasting room this weekend. If anyone is on the Central Coast of California, stop in, say hi, tell me about the watch you are wearing and I’ll give you a free tasting along with some great discounts

Another couple over for dinner, drinks and dessert.

I Highly Recommend Anomaly Vineyards! Small Vineyard with Fantastic Wines. The 2012 was Incredible!
If you have a chance I suggest you visit and buy some of their wines.
https://www.anomalyvineyards.com/#story

2012 | The 2012 Anomaly is an inviting wine; with warm spice notes of mahogany, nutmeg, and sage. The palate of the wine begins with rich cherry flavors and evolves seamlessly into darker notes of black currant and fruit compote. It is rich in stature, but graceful in its delivery. The tannins are fine grained, smooth and persistent, leading to a velvety and ridiculously long finish. Note from May 2017 tasting: Beautiful and introspective, ripe and pleasantly fruit-forward. This wine takes you on a wonderful journey.

That's great Roger, the 97 Opus has sentimental value for my wife and I, we were at Opus in 2000 drinking the 97 and proposed to her a week later when we got home from Napa, we are sitting on a few 97's so let me know how it's holding up. Want to save it for our 20 and 25 year anniversaries but I'm sure it will be a diminished wine by then.

Yes, that's my experience as well with the 97's but we didn't actually get married until 2003 so I have 5 more years for the 20 year and 10 more for the 25 and I'm worried they may fall off by then cest la vie I guess, All the best to you and your family good sir!!

Amazing choices ! Enjoy ! Had my first glass of 1997 Opus on Christmas Eve 2007... I was in college and I credit that wine with starting my addiction
