Regarding scratches, I have worn this as a daily wearer for the last few months and I have scratched the bracelet slightly. You learn how to wear it if that makes sense.

Why would you pay the same money for an inferior piece?

IMHO anyone paying these crazy prices must be sixpence short of a shilling, and while there are those willing to pay these over inflated prices. And those who post and advertise these crazy prices on internet forums, the trend will continue in many ways the WIS type can be his/hers worst enemy.

I'd really like a white Daytona and have wondered whether I ought to buy one before they increase even more. The thing that is stopping is this, I have a 116610LN Sub which I bought for £5,700 brand new in 2013, I now see these being priced for sale at over £8,000 and in my mind there's no way that it's an 8k plus watch so I'm sure i'd feel really disappointed by a 20k steel Daytona.

White Daytona increases again...

Chrono24 is probably a better gauge of the market rather than WF (Watch Finder) which is ultimately one retailer.
Can see £20k private seller or £21,500 (dealer seller) on there.

If they are asking £24K I wonder if Spreadfinder are even offering £16K to buy.

Lol. I mean people keep saying look at prices. The reality is those paying the prices are the real dupes. I mean its dinner plate material, it’s not an upgrade. I mean Rolex must be laughing their butts off. Let’s see we’ll lets slap a new bezel on it and watch them go nuts. We don’t really have to put any real thought into an upgrade here.

It’s really more of a different variation of the 116520 than a different reference. It’s really not different enough to have a different reference number. Pure marketing gimmick, but genus in Rolex part as they know their audience.

I have, had my name down since 2016 and tbh they offered to put my name down as I was buying a 116613 at the time and because they would only offer 10% discount on the 116613. It was my first purchase from them but since then I've bought a 116710 BLNR, a 126300 and a ladies diamond bezel DJ for my mum, all of which I actually wanted, they weren't to win favour. I've referred a number of customers to them too, one of which they supplied with a SS Daytona as he can afford to buy things that he doesn't really want.
They have promised me a BLRO within the next 12 months though so fingers crossed.
I doubt I'll see a Daytona though, apparently they are so sought after that the director hands them out rather than the shop manager because he gets pestered to death every where he goes by people.

And just for the interest of everybody, I have just emailed watchfinder pretending to own a white dial 116500 2018 unworn. They have offered £19,000 - £20,000 for it which seems strong money to me. I can't see much point in selling private if you do actually have one to sell if the offer is as good as that.

Yes I do, I have a black dial 116520 which I bought new in 2013 and I've wanted an 116500 white dial since release. But I don't really have to justify myself to you do I.

I agree! But I'm never selling my white or black ceramics that I got at MSRP

I'm not implying a justification, if you want it then do it. Personally I wouldn't pay that much of a premium for it.

Many of those buyers are not likely to be worried about recouping value. They like the watch and buy it at the market price. The market would not exist if the retail price was not perceived to be cheap. The market exists because there is an arbitrage opportunity. If the economy does head for a decline as you intimate, like all previous declines, it will be followed by a recovery. The prices of these watches is high because the number of capable buyers for them has grown over the last decade. I think the number of capable buyers will continue to grow for some time.

No question the white is more popular, I just prefer the black. I've been on a list since release and will either get it at MSRP, or will never get it. I'm fine either way.

the ROLEX DAYTONA is a Symmetrical Beauty, and one of the very few Watches I forget I'm wearing due to it's stealthy comfort.

The cost is what a Buyer will pay

That is very strong

The average markup is about 30%; which means at the top end they would list for £26k... however I believe there will be less margin required in an incredibly hot piece, perhaps as low as 15% as it’ll be in/out.

This was the exact same situation when I purchased my white 116520 back in 2002... Many people passed on the black dial in hopes to get the white dial....

I put my name down a few months post release for a white dial.
Got a little impatient after a long wait.
Bought one basically new from a private seller for $18.5k (just below gray price at the time).
Wore it for a year. Great watch.
AD came through last month so bought his at retail.
Sold the one I paid $18.5k for (in a day) for $22.5k to a large gray,
So now I own a new white dial with my name on it for $4k under retail.
Glad I didn’t wait.

Have also looked into selling mine - about 3 months ago I was offered market price of £19250 less 9% commission as they had a buyer lined up. Week later they emailed offering £19810 less 9%. Not selling of course as I love the watch.

Believe mark up for these are thin as they will not be languishing in dealer display cases.

My wife’s Patek 24 on the other hand would be a 30% margin!
